Yes, I had also heard that but didn't PF say that he and Kudos were up for a ninth season but the BBC tended to give their ok very late - usually around the time the first episodes are screened in Britain?

They gave Series 8 the green light half way through Series 7.. after they had aired enough episodes to gain a viable average for ratings.
