(04-09-2009 05:15 PM)The Grid Wrote: One of my favourite ever episodes - weirdly, I enjoy the episodes most where all the spooks are stuck on the grid. Angela was very funny, I cracked up every time she called poor Jo Giggles . |

RE: Diana
The only thing that can compete with this episode is the audio commentary for it from Nicola Walker, Miranda Raison & a director person [sorry forgot his name]. Very very funny!

RE: Diana
Ooh they were lots of good bits, I thought Nicola & Miranda were very funny!
Miranda talked about how the director teased her saying they were going to put a puddle of wee under her chair in the scene with Angela. They mentioned how the actor who plays Colin fancied Lindsey Duncan. The bag that Jo was handcuffed to was a copy of a handbag that Miranda actually uses in real-life [you catch sight of it in Miranda's video diary from the series 6 DVDs]. There were lots more of course, I can't recall them off the top of my head. |

RE: Diana
I might have to re-listen to it later, it's such an amazing commentary! So I'll try and put some quotes up when I'm listening to it
DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered. |

RE: Diana
The Director is Julian Simpson. He also did the commentary for 4.9 which is good too.

RE: Diana
Ok, good spooks quotes. Sorry this is a day late but yesterday I ended up not listening to it :O so I am now.
This is done in chronological order (in case anyone wants to listen to the parts. They'll also have approximate timings by them.) Any bits that aren't cool quotes (ie they say something hilarious, etc) I won't quote, but will occasionally put roughly what's being said in case people want to listen. [2:38] - Julian Simpson is talking about the tradecraft (leaving the slip of paper by the door as shown in this episode.) [3:49] - Miranda Raison, Nicola Walker and Julian Simpson talking about mace cans and various anecdotes... [6:40] Ruth: Angela, you could go to jail for this. Angela: Why do you think I microfilmed it and put it in my tooth. Ruth: It's not funny. Beat Nicola Walker: Actually it is quite funny. [8:35] Jo: Want a lozzie? Everyone else: Want a lozzie? [9:08] Nicola: Meeting! (Harry's diary.) Julian: That was cut in, that was a separate day and everything that close up because presumably the original had your lines on it! Nicola: Yes, probably! [9:20] Miranda: Coming to the George, I think that we should have the odd scene in the George- Julian: I think we should have scenes in the George. Miranda and Nicola: Yeah. Julian: When people get embarrassingly drunk, when members of the Spooks team get embarrassingly drunk and start spouting secrets to the bar man. [10:02] Nicola: Is this, this bag that comes in Miranda, that's your handbag isn't it? Miranda: Yes, in fact not that very one the costume designer copied me. Julian: 'Cause I didn't realise and the other day I was on the Grid, you were there - Nicola: Saw the bag! Julian: -I saw the bag and double took. I was like, oh er oh what! And then R-, no, Nicola said it was your bag. Miranda: I know, but it was slightly annoying after that because the rest of the summer I sort of felt like I was at work. Julian: Well you were at work! Miranda: Nooo. Mid July we stopped. That's roughly the first ten minutes, I'll do more later :-) If I've missed any, or misspelt, etc, sorry. DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered. |

RE: Diana
Sorry for such a long wait for the next part but schoolwork, etc, took over.
[11:06] Nicola: They're always difficult these scenes when you have the whole gang there. Julian: Yeah, so difficult. Nicola: Difficult for you to shoot and they're difficult for a load of actors to stand around and not end up being pains in the arse to you. Julian: Yeah, and you never really succeeded did you? Nicola: No, no, probably not. [12:15] Miranda: And she says things like false bottom with great authority and that's quite difficult. Julian: I heard, I read, this is completely irrelevant but you'll like this. I read, in a magazine today, so this is not a trade secret at all, that Penelope Cruz had to have a false bottom for a movie she's just done because they said that she wasn't curvy enough! ... Nicola: But false bottom, I think if any of the regulars had had to have said - that can't have been correct English - Julian: We'd have had a number of takes. Nicola: Yeah, we'd never have got through it, but it's only because you've got a brilliant guest who comes in and actually just knows their lines and doesn't laugh at false bottom. [15:25] Miranda: You remember we shot that, (Jo cutting off the top of the water cooler) and filmed this whole sequence of us putting these things in and the props guy Boyzy (sp?) was in the back of the shot for the whole lot. Julian: Yeah, that was a good moment for me. You did cut the top off that water cooler very very neatly. Miranda: I think it was quite a nice touch as well - Zaf not wanting to lose his phone. [16:05] Nicola: It's a really nice touch that the reason she's able to get in is that they're all so keen to meet her and to flatter her. It's the Trojan horse, getting this woman into the building. It's our adoration of her that allows her in. Julian: Also the other thing that allows her in which isn't ever actually paid off in the episode really is that Juliet Shaw, Anna Chancellor's character, says at the beginning 'I smuggled her in because she doesn't have a pass!' Well done Juliet! And then she gets to be a bit righteous at the end! Nicola: Anna was in fits because she was always going off to these meetings - Julian: We had to find so many different ways for her to say 'I'm late for a meeting' and we realised that actually what we were doing was painting this character who was rubbish at time keeping. And actually she's always going round late for a meeting at number 10. The Prime Minister must be hopping mad. [17:15] Miranda: Having said, I mean, Lindsay was so unactressy and so brilliant, but one thing that, character-wise, that she did, that she was really possessive over her button, she didn't want anyone to puss the button. Julian: Oh really? Miranda: Yeah, well not, she wasn't odd about it or anything but she just erm, she'd sort of go 'oh no, don't.' Will post the rest soon (hopefully!) DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered. |
