In my opinion after Series 4 it has been unfortunately sliding into an implausible batch of storylines, plots with an unpleasant "24H" flavour, and too many guns and shots fired....

I suppose Intel Officers real daily life is kinda dull after all...

Well yeah, I suppose some episodes are rather far-fetched but it does make for great drama. I dare say it's possible to compare earlier and later episodes for plausibility, credibility etc and see what comes up. Sure it will show that the earlier ones were less 'fanciful'. I was never a huge fan of the two-part opener for series 5 but it does make for wonderful telly in many ways. But yeah, you have to leave a certain amount of reality at the door as you watch it. But then someone could well say we've been run by a right-wing cabal for many years (we've not had a left-wing government since the late 70s). Our institutions, for example, they all seems to be supported by the right and nothing is done to move them on or get rid of them at all, thanks to the right. Anyway, I'm in serious waffle mode now so I'll shut up.
