Favourite films?

RE: Favourite films?
Lars and the Real Girl is incredible. Nancy Oliver wrote the script, and she was abig part of the reason why I then went and watched Six Feet Under and True Blood. She actually studied with Alan Ball. Truthfully, it would have won the oscar for best original screenplay but it was up the same year as Juno, also written by a wonderful, gutsy writer in Diablo Cody. Patricia Clarkson is in this film, and she's sensational - one of those actors I'd go and see anything she was in.

The Goddess of 1967 was a very small Australian film Rose Byrne did my last year of school, 2001. It's also her favourite film role. This was before she became a big star overseas. She's like Abbie Cornish, one of those actors you watch and think, she has it. She'll make it. Byrne's boyfriend Brendan Cowell is also an amazing actor, and he also writes, but he's mainly working in the local industry.

Priscilla was a great film.

RE: Favourite films?
It's in my top 20 or so films. It floated around for years as a script before it was finally picked up, and is incredibly original and very obvious at the same time. My sister hated it though, with a vengeance. But given her penchant for really bad movies.....I'd probably take my opinion over hers.

Oh I totally forgot Control! I love Samantha Morton.

And You Can Count On Me (despite its terrible name) is fantastic. Mark Ruffalo and Laura Linney are so beautiful, and definitely one of Matt Broderick's better movies.

Even if you find it depressing, Jude is fascinating to watch given how many people in that movie went on to great success in the industry. Chris Eccleston, Kate Winslet, Rachel Griffiths, and a very young David Tennant.

JHyde,

I'm willing to bet your top 20 films list has more than 20 films in it. LOL!

RE: Favourite films?
I haven't bothered listing Spanish films I love, Beatriz, because I figure you know them all already! I do watch a lot of films in other languages though - La Vita e bella was actually the movie that made me want to learn Italian. (I hate that I can't use accents on this laptop.)

Just to destroy the idea that I only like good movies: I can highly recommend Wild Child (which I totally thought would be terrible, but really wasn't, and was Natasha Ricahrdson's last movie) and also She's The Man. The latter is also an interesting dissertation on gender roles.

RE: Favourite films?
It doesn't matter I know them, I would like to know which films are watched in other countries (out of curiosity Wink)

Everybody like bad films, not all of them of course, I mean in your list of favourite films there are always a few bad films, secretly, in fact, in Filmaffinity there's a list of "my all-time worst". For example I laughed a lot with The naked Gun (you should read the titles in spanish, most of the times nothing to do with the original, this one for example would be something like "Grab it if you can", nonsense), I don't know why but I like Leslie Nielsen Wink

I like absurd humor, when I was a child my father recorded "A funny thing happened on the way to the forum" from the tv and I watched it hundreds of times, you know when you are a kid you want to watch a film again and again Confused
