Tell us something about you!

RE: Tell us something about you!
Next Friday? Wow! I've never understood starting the school year on a Friday. Wednesday always seemed like the smart day to start. You get a few days in to get used to it and then a weekend.

The public schools here started on Monday of this week.

Always love your country, but never trust your government.

I work on offender health and oversee a prison health contract, among other things. I'm currently working on a big project to re-design mental health services for offenders with mental health problem (of whom there are many).

And I'm about to buy a 2nd hand SLR digital camera, as my cousin wants me to take her wedding photos in November and my other camera is kapput. I used to do a lot of photography with a 'real' (ie film) camera but kind of lost interest when we got a digital - didn't seem the same somehow.

Oh, and I'm on the final leg of a part time Master of Science degree in Leadership & Management in Public Service at the University of Hertfordshire. I'm going to be researching whether there are any differences in perception between women and men as to what they regard as good leadership. The swine wouldn't let me do my research project on the leadership styles of the five Star Trek captains, so this was the next best thing.

Good luck with the Masters Picard, Shame they wouldn't allow you to study the ST captains, very inconsiderate !!

I ski, indoor rock climb, and I go fencing when near enough a club. I'm a total technology geek. I work in Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports at Castleford Xscape but my normal profession is TV, which I want to return to after my contract.

RE: Tell us something about you!
I work in the bush regeneration industry in Sydney. I supervise teams of paid employees to carry out bush regen works in native bushland areas, mostly creek lines. The company I work for is one of the biggest in Sydney and I'm just about to become a permanent staffer, which is really quite rare in bush regen.
So I know you're all asking "What's bush regen?" Well, basically its treating/removing exotic plants from native bushland; but its a bit more involved than just pulling weeds for a living. I studied a Diploma in Conservation and Land Management (Natural Area Restoration) and also have a Certificate 3, same title. I've been working in bush regen for 5 & a half years and I love it! In all my days of bush regen, I can count the number of bad days at work on two hands. Its a pleasure to go to work each day. Big Grin

Excellent Big Grin

As such, a lot of my crushes (and ex's) were geeks too. My boyfriend now (long term Big Grin Heart Blush ) is studying a Masters in chemistry. I was on holiday with him when the paroxicybin episode of Spooks was on and he googled it to see if it existed, then tried to work out what it was close to in real life, and the chemical structure of it and the realism of it. Rolleyes He is such a geek but I love him Big Grin Heart

But as for me I am dyscalculic. I can set anything up like computers, media systems etc, and get them working to the best of their capabilities, but I will never be able to learn programming code, and write programs.

YFM, I would love to do debating (I'm an argumentative sod who loves discussion and debate) and lacrosse sounds interesting, all I know is it's what posh boarding school girls played in Enid Blyton Tongue but it sounds really fun!
