RE: Epsiode 3 = Best episode of all time!!
I agree the kiss between the terrorist was over the top. He just killed a man with cold blood and then plays a 'love scene'?
Not to fond on the 'through a glass' camera shots, it was annoying when trying to follow the conversations. (14-11-2009 10:05 PM)Nitrus Wrote: I also find it hard to believe that the bullet went through the terrorist, it is a small caliber weapon, and she fired direct at the ribcage. I'm still shocked about Jo's dead, I knew she would 'leave' but no so soon. And I thought too, the bullet couldn't have reach her, isn't it like when someone's to be shot takes another person as armour and doesn't get killed? On the bright side, love Ruth and Harry's line about Ruth being back and he trying to suppress a smile. (Actually I think it is a wall that separates them at the end, Harry can't see her but I'm sure he knows she's crying) I found it fast paced, could feel the pressure of the americans on the HS/MI5 that got me on the edge of my seat. I don't think Lucas-the russian and the terrorist where different subplots, I mean, the last 2 were connected, so he was send to pressure on that part of the chain trying to take down the terrorists. The water fight was, IMO, pretty cool, for a second there I thought Lucas would really kill the russian. As a whole I loved the ep, well...besides Jo's death. LNF |

But sending him off to deal with Mr. Speedo pulled him out of the action of the episode. I guess they thought it was the only way to accomplish Jo's death; if both Lucas and Ros were there, the death scene wouldn't have worked. But I did find it strange that he was away from the main action for so long. "What is the truth?" "Betrayal is a cancer. Let it eat your soul, not mine." I wasn't too enamored with this episode. The scenes with the terrorists and the whole "trials" thing bored me to tears.
I have to say I felt pretty emotional watching the scene when Jo died. Ugh, I really hate to see Jo go! And I could imagine just how horrible Ros must have been feeling while I was watching it. I was moved by the following scene with Harry and Ruth, too. So sad! |

Okay maybe I was a bit hasty in claiming it to be the best episode ever haha!! But I can't believe there was so many people who didn't like it!! It was so tense all the way through and surely noone can criticise the script writers with that AMAZING ending with Jo and Ros?!
I really liked the idea of trials because that made it different from all the other hostage situations from before and I actually thought that the terrorist's scenes were good, I liked the fact we saw them kissing and how the girl began to doubt what she was doing. And as for Harry and Ruth I can't wait for the part it showed in the preview for next week where Harry goes to Ruth 'was she the only reason you came back?' |

RE: Epsiode 3 = Best episode of all time!!
I don't see how Harry could have comforted Ruth. What could he have said; anything would have rung hollow. An arm around her shoulders would have been worse. At least she's lucid enough to be able to cry. Harry would have been thunderstruck as well. Add to that, he sent Jo in. That's his job but it doesn't mean he doesn't feel it and is ahead of everyone else emotionally and, able to comfort.
The tears in Ros's eyes choked me up. That's the first time for the whole series. For most of the deaths I just mumble Oh God No and get a little nauseous. (I think the absolute worst for me was Colin. Who say say Harry didn't dispense comfort far and wide then.) Rooftop scene: Beth and Dmitri sneak up and disarm Lucas, cuff him and lead him away. Lucas screams, "No Harry please, I'd rather die!" Harry: "We're sending you to rehab ................. in Texas." |

This is the first time I can think of that Ros hesitated on a mission (somebody correct me if I'm wrong, please). She had the shot several seconds before she took it, and only after Jo gives her the nod does she do it. Gutting moment for Ros, losing one of "her" agents, especially the way it needed to happen. That's why I think Spoiler: show Quote:Posted by YourFutureMuse - Today 07:20 AM I disagree about the writing, in general, although the Ros/Jo moment was excellent -- due more to the direction and acting than the writing, I'd say. For a show that specializes in quick cut, and sometimes brain defying, action, the terriorist scenes were verbose and overwritten. Way too much time was spent on the set up and backstory exposition and the scenes themselves were painfully slow. "What is the truth?" "Betrayal is a cancer. Let it eat your soul, not mine." "Please tell me this isn't going where I think it's going." |
