RE: Episode 4 Discussion
Seems like I am quite late to the party, but I thought I should put my 2 cent in!
I watched this episode about 5 times on my iPod and every time it was just as amazing as the previous time. This is certainly Richard Armitage's tour de force episode, why the man never got nominated for his work is beyond me! The scenes of rage when he finds out that Sarah tried to bug the flat and all that, you can see his anger, his hurt, and how much this past was eating away at him. The relationship between Oleg and Lucas was sure an interesting one. In the beginning, you can tell Lucas still was sort of shaken by Oleg being around, but throughout the episode, he begins to stand on his own two feet and finally overcome the darkness that's trying to destroy him. And in the end, it was Oleg who had fallen into a mistake that he was hoping Lucas would. Ros and Lucas's relationship is really sweet and adorable. Other shows could certainly take note from Spooks, not every man/female relationship has to be sexual or romantic. Ros and Lucas clearly has a bond, but they are simply good friends. It was nice to see Ros being gentle with Lucas and trying to watch out for him, for someone who's been known as the Ice Queen, seeing this side of her is something rare and amazing. Now the most complicated relationship if there ever was one, Harry and Lucas. Seriously, I wish someone would just lock those two in a room and not let them out until they've dealt with their issues, and even a blind person could see that those two's got a GIANT elephant in the room that neither wants to deal with. This is the second time that Harry has looked into Lucas's eyes and lied about what he knows, first with Sugarhorse and now the meeting in Basel. As much as I understand Harry's point of view and his slight distrust of Lucas, I doubt Lucas really sees it that way, and we saw some of that anger and hurt when Lucas learned that Harry lied about Sugarhorse. But then again, even with all that mistrust between them, it seems both are willing to risk a lot to protect one another. Harry turned to Lucas when the mole situation came to a critical level, and not even with one hesitation, Lucas ran off to Moscow, a place of horrible memories, just to do a mission because Harry needed him to. And with Harry, he put his own life on the line just to ensure a safe passage for Lucas, Ros, and Connie, and he was quick to say that he was not going to let Oleg near Lucas and there was no way that he would deliver Lucas into an FSB trap. This makes their relationship very much complicated indeed. Because one second they are not sure to trust one another, and the next they are trying to save each other. And as for Sarah Caulfield, thank god she's gone. I was ready to toss her off a cliff! RIP Carter Hall ~ Hawkman |

RE: Episode 4 Discussion
Just watched the DVD extra for this episode, it concerns the scene where Sarah throws Walker off the balcony. It is an incredible insight into the filming as I assumed it was computer generated somehow, but it turns out that a stuntman actually "fell" from the balcony literally as shown in the finally episode (landing on an air bag obviously). A really interesting DVD extra.

RE: Episode 4 Discussion
My favourite episode! This episode showed all of Richard Armitage's talent. The way he was able to convey all of Lucas's emotions was amazing. As for the torture scenes - HOW DID HE NOT GET AN AWARD FOR THAT?!

RE: Episode 4 Discussion
I'm only three minutes into the episode, and I can already tell it's going to be psychologically traumatising. I know about future Lucas things, but only the major plot points, so I'm very interested to see the deeper stuff.

RE: Episode 4 Discussion
I got hooked on that episode the the entire hour. RA did an amazing job! (as usual, imo). As many posted previously, it was hard to watch Lucas' suffering when in Russia, RA is so great at expression in subtle manners his emotions! just love him! I really felt bad for Lucas.... Enjoyed Lucas and Ros 's relationship: they have good lines when they interact between each other. Like the fact that Ros cares about Lucas when letting him deal with his ex-torturer (his name escapes me at the moment). I find it also interesting the interaction between Lucas & Harry, cannot wait to see where it will go.....their trust issues that is....
Well I guess to summarize: I loved everything! I think i'm becoming biais with that show..... Serie 9 has not come yet on Netflix and am dying for it to be available!!!!! I get what you're saying Beatriz, and ultimately, it is a mental illness, although some people are more likely to fall under its guise. nice observation about Ruth & Lucas JHyde! |
