Harry Peter Firth
I couldn't see that there was a thread where we could discuss the man behind Harry and his many other projects which he has been involved in.

I have not seen many of PF's films but I did the other night pluck up the courage to watch "Equus" on You Tube. Some nice person had uploaded it in 13 parts. The subject of the film had put me off. It's not for the faint hearted but it is an excellent film and PF's performance was wonderful. No wonder he ended up with an oscar nomination for the role although I think he should have been nominated in the best actor category instead of Richard Burton, and not in the supporting actor category.

I have just ordered "Tess" and "Letter to Brezhnev" to watch to help fill the void that is coming up and will let you know what I think of them.

If you have seen any PF films or TV shows then please let us know what you think?

RE: Peter Firth
I've also seen the movie version of Equus. Incredible performance from someone so young, I think he was about 18 yo at the time.

He was nominated in the "best supporting" category because that was his contractual billing for the movie. You can only be nominated in your billing category, no matter how good you were or how much on-screen time you actually had.

He also did an episode of Law and Order/SVU some 4-5 years ago -- played an egocentric, rather mad child psychologist. Nothing special but that accent did bring a bit of elegance to the ep.

I had never seen PF in any other role.
Yesterday, I watched the trailer of Equus and it seemed to me a little strange... but I'll give it a chance it if you say its good. He was so young... I love his lips...Angel

Tea Lady said in other thread that it was his voice Big Grin

Let me know what you think Beatriz. I was a little scared to watch it also but I kept hearing that it was a fine film so gave it a go. I think it was a stage play first and then was turned into a film. There are 13 parts to it on You Tube. It took me a few days to get through it.

RE: Peter Firth
I read the play of Equus late in school and loved it. The film I have mixed feelings about having watched it around the same time, but loved Peter Firth and watched everything else he was in over the ensuing two years, and so when Spooks came around I was all up for it. I didn't get my hands on it until 2004 but have been a steafast fan ever since. I just don't like Burton very much, and am not entirely a fan of how the film was shot. I think Firth was 21 or 22 when he played it on stage, but he was 25 when the film was made.

It is an acquired taste and not for everyone, so know that before jumping in.

I've always found it funny that Peter Firth's two most famous roles are soooooo different, but I think he likes that, and I do too.

Sorry, going off topic a little, but you dont like Burton !! Good grief. Equus wasnt his best I admit but have you not seen "Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf?" The best acting performance by anyone, ever.

RE: Peter Firth
No, I love that film (big Mike Nichols fan) but it's the exception. For some reason I never found him an actor I really liked.

It's so funny to see Peter Firth's thatch of shiny blond curls though.
