RE: Episode 7 Discussion
Not to hijack the thread, but I thought some of you might appreciate the irony of my eating Indian cuisine for dinner just a few hours after this episode. Proper, authentic Punjabi at that
I see what Peter Firth meant about this being his worst nightmare. What's especially ugly about this prospect is that it's very much a sheep in wolf's clothing. Nightingale masks the true offenders. Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

Brilliant in a twisted, evil, amoral, Macchiavellian kind of way. "What is the truth?" "Betrayal is a cancer. Let it eat your soul, not mine." "Please tell me this isn't going where I think it's going." |

It's also very MI5, given how often that "turn your enemies against themselves" ploy has been used before, often in the political scenarios we mentioned before.

RE: Episode 7 Discussion
One of my favourite episodes so far, nail-biting and very moving.
This kid, Ashley Kumar, was amazing, I fell for him almost inmediately. I'd love he became an MI5 officer, I know he won't but it'd be great. The theme of this episode very very good, manipulating people to fulfill goals... They do it all the time, they take advantage of the weak or fanatists or whatever person easily influenciable, that makes me very angry. The new HS... very young, yes (and cute ), it would be too obvious if he is part of Nightingale... I thought it the first time I saw him, but I'm doubting now, he was portrayed as a little presumptious, I think they want us to think he's part of Nightingale... HR love those moments together. I partly agree with almh, they're going "too fast", they're unrecognizable. I was surprised when Ruth touched Harry's hand. But I'm glad they're moving somewhere (12-12-2009 10:46 AM)JHyde Wrote: Not meaning to be disrespectful, but the resemblance of that ceremonial dagger to Wolverine's claws was startling. I almost expected that to be Ros' joke when she collared him the carpark. I thought exactly the same!!! lol (It may be part of my fixation with Hugh Jackman ) (12-12-2009 02:11 AM)JHyde Wrote: *I want to start a drinking game involving Harry and the line "Get me the Home Secretary." RE: Episode 7 Discussion
Beatriz, I had the same thought about Ashok becoming MI5 in that conversation near the London Eye, right after he's introduced. But of course, he probably never would given his anger and distrust of the security services. Indirectly, it's also a telling reminder that even though many people might possess the necessary qualities to join the Service, few of them also possess the inclination. they need both.
That's a good one to add to the game too. Also: "do we trust him/her/them?". Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

Yes -- a nefarious int'l group using MI5's own strategies (or any intelligence agency's for that matter) to attempt to shift the world order in their favor. There's something smacking of poetic justice in that! Especially since the people involved all seem to be intelligence agents. World order destroyed by the very agencies seemingly created to maintain a peaceful world order. Reads like the convoluted argument for "defensive" nuclear capabilities. "What is the truth?" "Betrayal is a cancer. Let it eat your soul, not mine." "Please tell me this isn't going where I think it's going." |

Exactly. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. I'm sure we'll see sparks enough next week!

RE: Episode 7 Discussion
So all those sweaty footballers never showered together I find that hard to believe. Otherwise a blinding episode. Don't like the Home Secretary, or his acting ability though, And I agree JHyde - Ros should have said something like "You've dropped your X Men prop" rather than the potato peeler thing. What I was thinking when Lucas chased Ashok into Sea World was "don't they have to pay?" LOL. Another poss drinking game - whenever Ruth approaches Harry with a piece of paper in her hand and says "There's something else"? Can't do my original one which was whenever Lucas tilts his head before saying something - you'd be a goner within minutes he does it all the time but it's sexy and I like it!

RE: Episode 7 Discussion
It was just the way she was holding it. That scene was one of my faves in terms of lighting and how beautiful it looked with HN's hair blowing gently in the breeze. One of those times where the weather was a nice counterpoint to what was going on in the scene.
If that HS was any younger he'd be in his mother's womb still. Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

RE: Episode 7 Discussion
Really liked this episode, I did like the interaction between Harry & Ruth, even thought there wasn't much, it was very symbolic.
Lucas seemed to be back in the land of the sane.. he knows what Christine 2 is now and has accepted that she needs to be stopped/killed horribly. Tariq out of the office was quite refreshing, and really liked how they set that guy up with the mobile phone. Very nicely done. Sig & Av Guidelines | Rules | Spoiler Policy |
