RE: [spoilers] How Did You Rate Season 8?
It's not the better series I agree with that

IMVHO I don't think it's fair to say that of the characters, is more an evolution, methinks. Take Ruth for example, she's suffered a lot, and she did show emotions about Ashok for example; she's not the same person as she was in 5.05 and I like that, it wouldn't make sense... A lot of things happened to her and they affected her and shaped her current character...

Harry has been affected since 8.01 it was very hard for him to see Ruth coming back and making her suffer in such a way; he wasn't his fault but still...

As for Lucas... I wasn't a fan of his relationship with the CIA girl... but perhaps he needed a bit of affection... I also preferred series 7 Lucas.

And I liked Ros this series, I think one of her best

I also think this one of Ros's best series'. She had some great lines and she led with Carter-esque aplomb.

I was disappointed with the development of Lucas's character though, given that he didn't seem to actually develop much at all. He could really have come into his own but only hints of this were seen, methinks.

RE: [spoilers] How Did You Rate Season 8?
I was thinking whether episode 1 of series 8 was linked to the Nightingale storyline or was it just a stand alone story? Was Mani trying to get the uranium to pass on to the Americans who would have used it to try and start the war between India and Pakistan? If it wasnt linked to the Nightingale thingy then I feel the writers could have linked it. Ruth could have felt a little better about George dying if she knew it had helped prevent war and millions of people dying.

I also wondered about this. I think it was enough of a tenuous similarity that if people wanted to think of Mani/McCall et.al as being possibly spurred on by Nightingale, then they could. But also that it stood alone separate with 8.2 before the conspiracy started being uncovered.

That's a good point, I've never thought about it, for me 8.01 was only the next part of the series 7 storyline, but if you link it to the Nightingale conspiration, it also makes sense...

I agree with Beatriz -- 8.1 was the continuation of 7.8, for me. I didn't see any overt Nightingale links with Mani and McCall. I don't think we even got a hint of Nightingale until the HS told Harry about a secret meeting he'd heard about.

RE: [spoilers] How Did You Rate Season 8?
The funny thing about 8.2 is that in today's news, the second story on the BBC is that the UK apparently only has 8 days worth of gas left. They have increased the piped supply from Norway. I wonder if they have tried the Tazbecks? It must be Harry and his lights over Christmas that is the cause!

I guess it did seem like the end of series 7 with Malcolm leaving. I always feel people should leave at the end of a series and not the beginning. It's not the Spooks way though, but I can deal with it better.

That's true about Malcolm leaving -- it did signal the end of one era and the beginning of the next.

I think they ask actors who want to leave the show to stay into the beginning of the next series so they can write an adequate leaving scenario. Otherwise, we'd have a lot of Sams, disappearing into the bowels of Thames House never to be seen again.

LOL!!! I just looked it up on the bbc website and it made me laugh so much Big Grin Spooks have been ahead of real life before, such as series 4, with the bomb attacks on London. It was shown on tv about two months after it had really happened, but of course the scripts had been written months in advance, and it had all been filmed.

DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered.

Now you've got me laughing again. Off to start my day. Smile

Rooftop scene:
Beth and Dmitri sneak up and disarm Lucas, cuff him and lead him away.
Lucas screams, "No Harry please, I'd rather die!"

Harry: "We're sending you to rehab ................. in Texas."
