RE: Travel
Well I've been planning my first international trip to the UK, but have had to postpone it until ~mid-2011, which I've come to find isn't too bad - I'll have things well in order by that time... I haven't gotten to go or do much, but have seen about 1/10 of the US Smile

RE: Travel
I love Lisbon in Portugal and the OH and I are heading there again in a couple of weeks - so excited! Fabulous capital city and lots to see & do; and only miles from beautiful coastline, hope to see Sporting play while we're there (big footie fan!)
Most interesting place I've visited is Belarus; it defied every 'evil' stereotype ... by the looks of it, it is very tough living but kinder people you won't meet. Funnily enough we couldn't speak more highly of their military when we needed help after a spot of bother at a football match.
Most beautiful place I have seen is the Namib desert in Namibia on a road trip, completely stunning scenery, lunar landscapes, unreal heat, and tropical thunderstorms. Would recommend a road trip there to anyone who likes an adventure-type holiday!
JHyde would love to hear more on Malaysia. Whereabouts do they go and recommend?
Forgot to add I was in Polis in 2007 ... sadly no sign of our Ruth while I was there ;-) She must have been hiding ...

It's relatively quiet at the weekends FutureMuse; as the diplomats that work with the European Union tend to go home, that's where the city really gets its business. I really liked it all the same; if you enjoy cafe culture & sipping wine, and slow afternoons :-) We found a great cuban music bar around the Grand Place and hung out there for a couple of nights dancing and having a fun time. I am not sure I would stay more than a couple of days as I can't remember there being any great sights / historical attractions to see in the city itself. It's a huge train hub, we got a train straight to Amsterdam from there for the rest of our holiday. Bruges is another popular trip from there. Hope this helps :-)

You're welcome. Amsterdam is great too - lots & lots to see there - tons of museums, such a different place with cyclists everywhere and no cars! If you don't fancy going to one certain type of coffee shop; the regular pubs are great Cool Have fun!

Have just come back from Italy, and oh my goodness I absolutely loved it Big Grin Big Grin

Anyone who likes Ancient History should absolutely visit Ostia, the old Roman port - not so many people know about it, and you get to actually walk inside all the old (ruined Sad) buildings etc. Tongue

And, if you go to the Colosseum in Rome, look out for the 'wild beasts' that still inhabit there!! (I saw a cat Tongue)
