The Diary definitely would make an interesting addition into the whole inquiry-plotline, and who knows, maybe some relationships will be expanded upon more with the diary in the mix. There are dates in the diary that are not there, so maybe the show can actually update it in some way. That would be cool. I think Harry has mellowed as he got older, as do most people when one grows up, he's not head-strong and reckless as he used to be, not always the one to jump and shoot first anymore, he's gotten wiser. But then again, I guess that's sort of a double-edge sword too. I'm not sure what's worse, getting older or getting wiser, or if any of those two has done Harry any good in the end. He still lost almost everything close to him, it hasn't really saved his career and lost him his prodigy. Maybe his life was easier then when he was young and more carefree. Harry really lost a lot of his pomposity as he aged. I can see him being much more cocky in his twenties than he is now. Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

Oh, and remember, he also still has Clive McTaggart's book with all its saucy revelations. I wonder, though, whether Harry will be willing to use the information in it to save himself. He seems quite willing to use his knowledge of where the bodies are buried to save others, like he did with Zoe, but I suspect he may think twice about using it to save himself. Perhaps it will depend on how much he still wants to do the job.
Haha, Jhyde, the Russian Ambassador disagrees with you - he still finds Harry pompous! |

RE: [spoilers] Sir Harry Pearce 2.0
Are you saying that Harry should surrender his diary to help his case when he is investigated? Not sure whether that would help him though as it's just Harry's take on things.
I'm really not sure how this is going to work. I mean, going back into Harry's past and looking at his conduct in previous operations. The most obvious would be what happened to his friend Bill in Ireland, but that has already been investigated. They also wouldn't want Cologne bringing up either. Most other operations that Harry has perhaps done something against the rule book, he has covered himself. Also a lot of people are dead now, so can't give evidence against him, i.e. Ros, Old Home Sec. I can only think that the writers will event a new operation that Harry was involved in (like they did with the Baghdad operation.) To be honest, I can't see Harry having the strength to fight this, considering what he was like in 9.1 when Ros died. Now he is covered in blood again with Lucas, and Ruth, well, she seems to be as distant as ever. Surely Harry would just pack it all in, and leave before he was pushed. Why fight? What is he fighting for? I could only see Harry having the strength to fight this investigation if Ruth is by his side, which means that something had to happen between them in those missing 48hrs. |

What is he fighting for? I agree, it's going to be a tough fight for him and after what's happened in S9 and 8 Harry just might not have the strength or will to put up a fight. He didn't exactly disagree when he was told there would be an investigation, he just took it like he knew this was always going to end badly, so will he just lay down a retire now? He's been on the verge of retiring 2 or 3 times now, is this the final straw for him? I can only see him fighting if he has someone behind him, someone being Ruth, if Harry left I can't see Ruth really sticking around either, When Harry asked Ruth in S8 if Jo was the only reason she came back it seemed obvious to me Jo wasn't the only reason, but Harry was part of her reason to return, if he left would she have anything left to stay for? *Screams* It always comes back to "What happened in that 48 hours?" and I get the feeling it was something to do with Harry returning to the Grid and the team realising he was alive and Lucas was gone, I agree something had to happen in that 48 hours that's going to make Harry put up a fight to keep his job and I think it may be something involving Ruth, if he was even thinking of quiting, Ruth would probably be the only person he'd listen to You and I...We're made of secrets-Ruth Evershed S10 "If it was up to me and Peter they'd have done it loads by now"- Nicola Walker |

Harry may be ready to retire, but will he be willing to see his life's work tarnished and leaving in disgrace? Maybe he will fight the Inquiry to allow him to leave on his own terms, and not under a cloud?
