RE: Rumours & Speculation Discussion
What really worries me is the same thing that has been worrying me since I first heard about this a few months back - this is the project Ben Richards is developing. As in Ben Richards whom I love who has been writing for the show since season 3. ( I only knew about Outcasts because I was stalking BR's imdb page. I didn't know all these cool people were in it.) He is the closest to a through line this show has apart from Peter Firth.
If Neil Cross (writer seasons 5 - 7) is anything to go by, he won't be pulling double duty. On the plus side, the show could be really good. Some people might be really happy about this though, given how many people were dissatisfied with the writing in season 8. It's easy to just talk about writers so dismissively, but Ben Richards has given his all to this show for more than five years and, with very few exceptions, has done a bloody amazing job. What I'm trying to say is, if he IS gone, I think the show will be the less for losing him. Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

RE: Rumours & Speculation Discussion
The planning and writing for Spooks must have been done months ago, so hopefully Ben Richards was involved in that. Wouldn't they have announced something if he had completey left the programme? I read on Ian Wylie's blog that Outcasts has been in the pipeline since 2007 so BR has had plenty of time to work on this as well as Spooks. With all the new characters coming in and the exciting spoilers we are being given, the writing team will hopefully deliver a stellar season 9.
We move on from this It's the realisation that I make a negligible difference Sometimes you have to give a man a chance |

There's also a lot about the press releases that has me thinking there might be a whole new team on board. But hey, they're press releases. Hot air, right?
That's true Aria and does make me feel slightly better, ta . I actually emailed his team and am waiting to hear what the story is. Hopefully they reply. Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

Don't worry, Mallarme, you're right, you don't need spoiler tags for previous series. You got it perfectly well

(13-05-2010 05:55 AM)Silktie Wrote: And Lucas used to be a criminal mastermind that sold pirated tapes of Wham and Boy George, but fled that life and joined MI5 to escape his first girlfriend's demands that they get married. LOL That made me laugh for such a long time LOL I'm new here, so I hope it's okay to jump in with an opinion on this subject: I agree with Silktie, and a few others, thoughts on this topic, and was very glad to read it actually, because it's exactly what I had thought of but assumed I was doing too much 'straw clutching' It would make sense, to me at least, if the 'traitor' was someone in power: a politician, minister, or even the DG. Any person in those categories would be surprising, especially if it was someone like the Home Secretary. Also, as Spooks writers spent series 7 setting up Connie as a betrayer within the team, I'm not sure that they could repeat such a major storyline again this soon. |

RE: Series 9 Rumours & Speculation
Ah, but it's not necessarily a traitor, you see. It's just that someone isn't what they appear to be. That could mean anything, which is why it's driving us crazy.

RE: Series 9 Rumours & Speculation
Yes I see your point picard. But still, Connie wasn't what, or rather, 'who', she appeared to be either. And I got the impression from the interview that it was a 'bad' thing, rather than a 'good' thing that the person hadn't been honest in the past.
On a completely different wavelength, what then if Harry isn't making reference to a 'traitor', but is inferring that someone isn't what they appear to be in terms of someone who appeared to be 'dead' really isn't, and they have spent a year or more working undercover? That would certainly be a shock, if it was a character like Zaf, or one of the other much loved ex-colleagues. Hmm, maybe a 'bridge too far'? |

RE: Series 9 Rumours & Speculation
Yes, I've often wondered about Zaf - that storyline really wasn't closed satisfactorily. I don't recall that the team found his body - they just had what they were told were his clothes. So, who knows?
