RE: Series 10 - Episode 5 Discussion
I'm not having problems with the Rumours thread, I'm having problems with this thread - where's the post gone that I posted yesterday evening? I'm sorry but I can't see any reason why you (Nitrus) felt the need to delete it any more than other posts that you've left on here. I guess the power of being admin's gone to your head a bit... (Sorry to sound angry but I am - give me back my post!)

Can't blame you. I would be hopping mad too.
You are entitled to your own opinion, even if Nitrus does not agree with it. As long as the posts are respectful, we all can have different points of view. Luckily we still live in a democracy, not like the Gavriks. I am sure that some of my replies have disappeared over the last months. |

RE: Series 10 - Episode 5 Discussion
I haven't removed any of your posts Gazelle and I just double checked to be sure. Please do not throw around accusations about me without good reason.
I've asked nicely for everyone to use this thread for discussion of episode 5 only and yet people still seem to think they can use this thread to air their grievances about my current mad power trip. I removed posts from this thread that were not discussing the episode, plain and simple. It's a shame that in a week when we're honouring the end of Spooks, people seem to have taken it upon themselves to cause such problems. I've asked nicely, now I'm annoyed. My first thought was to close this thread entirely, but that would prevent people who do respect other members from posting. Instead I'm going to warn the repeat offenders and anyone else from this post onwards posting anything not related to episode 5 will be warned on the spot. If you have a problem with this, PM me and as soon as I've done killing puppies I will read it. Sig & Av Guidelines | Rules | Spoiler Policy |

PS. I've checked again and my post of yesterday evening still isn't there so at least I feel condoned for my critical post earlier. Never mind, I'll put it behind me if you will

RE: Series 10 - Episode 5 Discussion
Okey dokey....
First up, I don't think it was a "safe house" Harry was living in (which is not to say it isn't a government owned property). Whilst it wasn't cluttered, there were enough of Harry's personal effects around for us to assume that he had been in sole occupancy for some time, plus he'd hidden his box of secrets in the garden for long enough for him to have to disturb vegetation in digging it up (which was also a nice wee nod to our old friend Malcolm in S9). Gavrik has specifically asked for Harry to be involved in the talks, therefore it is reasonable to assume that the FSB have been keeping tabs on him, hence Ilya knowing *where* Harry lives. What it doesn't explain is *how* he knew Harry was going to be at home when he decided to pop round with his bottle of vodka. He wasn't invited or expected. Harry was waiting for Ruth. Which is related to my next question, which is *how* did the fake CIA know where to go for Coaver whilst the team from the grid had him? Harry, Erin & Dimitri were on the op, with Callum on the grid. Ruth instantly knew where Harry had taken Coaver - she didn't need to be told. She only got Callum to confirm it when she pulled rank & then she told Towers. All of which leads me to suspect that whoever is behind all this has sufficient clout and resources to have compromised the encrypted telephone lines of MI5, The Home Office and possibly The Cousins, as the intel that has been compromised has all been relayed by mobile phone. Which leads us back full circle to our Russian friends on the Hillside in Ep.1 "Gavrik has my full trust". Yes indeed, but which one? All of them have their reasons. BRING IT ON I SAY! |

RE: Series 10 - Episode 5 Discussion
I liked how Harry's words to Ruth (and vice versa) in that episode almost seemed to be speaking to the fans: when he was telling her about retiring after it was all over and he said : "We both know it's time," (as in, its time to end the series) and then later on, by the docks when Ruth says it can't be the end and he says "Well let's pretend it isn't." That's what I'll do.
"Perhaps the selfsame song that found a path Through the sad heart of Ruth, when, sick for home, She stood in tears amid the alien corn...." |

RE: Series 10 - Episode 5 Discussion
Having watched the scenes recommended above I have to say I am not much the wiser!
I reckon Harry is in a safe house, and I think he's in a different house to the one in episode one when we see him before he sets out for his hearing. He was visited in that house by Sasha in episode one, so perhaps he changed where he was staying. It may have been staged so as to fool anyone else who came visiting ie. Ilya and all the comments about the style of the decor. I don't know about the stuff in the garden, maybe he hid the stuff there years ago. Perhaps it's Harry's personal bolt hole. The coat looks like a younger man's jacket. I wondered if it was Dimitri's, and then I thought perhaps it was Series 10.6 trailer Spoiler: show The conversation in the car that refers to Harry's house may also be significant, especially if Ruth knew he'd been staying in a safe house. Ruth seems to be amazed that he has invited her to see what's on the lap top, as though he is saying that he wants her to know all his remaining secrets. It appears to be a significant moment for them both. The beach scene, I can't make out. Why must they 'pretend' that it's not the end? One things for sure - Harry seems to have all this worked out. He is tens steps ahead of everyone else and will be completely exonerated in the end (Getting out rose-tinted spectacles). |

Nope, I think it is Harry's house and not a safehouse. But I think there are clues that he'd been a busy bunny during the night (no, not like that!) There's the jacket hanging on the hook, and when he picks up his watch from the dresser there's a square silver object lying next to it. Doesn't look like his mobile (too bulky), so perhaps a recording device? I think he may have been out and about snooping on the Gavriks. |

RE: Series 10 - Episode 5 Discussion
There is a black coat on the hook but there is also what appears to be a black coat on the same hook as Harry walks into the house in episode 10.1, you just don't get a clear look at it.
Also, as for the fridge. There are other "food" items in there. It is difficult to see what they are, but why doesn't he throw these items away as well? As for the item on the dresser. There are three holes in the end and what appears to a electronic sticker of some type. I originally thought it may be the butt of a gun, but I don't think Harry would have a silver gun. He's not John Wayne... |
