Favourite films?

RE: Favourite films?
I updated my list to add The Prestige. I love most of Chris Nolan's stuff. Plus having a movie where Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) outwits the Batman (Christian Bale) is great.

RE: Favourite films?
That was a great film. I'm a real fan of an old school thriller, and that film had it in spades.

Plus you have David Bowie as Nikola Tesla.

RE: Favourite films?
That was so awesome! Bowie is one of my pin-ups, as is Eno.

I never really talked about my favourite movies. Some of my favourite films are:

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
The Apartment
Annie Hall (and Crimes and Misdemeanours, I can't limit myself to one Woody Allen film)
Little Miss Sunshine
Fight Club (which I like to watch on my birthday eating scrambled eggs)
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Bloody Sunday
North by Northwest (and The 39 Steps, again, I can't limit myself to one Hitchcock).

Why not add all Woody Allen films? He all but admits he keeps filming the same film over and over waiting for himself to get it right. LOL!

Sometimes. But both of them are really great, and there are others I really enjoy. I nearly just listed my favourite directors - most of the films I listed are representative of the directors' work. Michael Gondry for example.

I forgot Tombstone! Just added it to my list. "I'll be your huckleberry!" is one of my favorite movie quotes.

It's funny how many of us like Hunt for Red October considering who dies early in that film (Take that almh).

You know, I nearly added Equus to my list, but I've never been crazy about Richard Burton. The play was one of my favourites at school.

I'm curious as to how many of the marginally older women on this forum who love Harry and Peter Firth started loving him after that movie. Which is troubling on like, 5 different levels.

Putting aside for the moment your term "older women," yes I started admiring Peter Firth with Equus. It took me forever to make myself watch it though because of the subject matter. I gave in because everyone said it was excellent, which it was, but so painful at the same time.

I always wanted to know if Richard Burton ever said to Peter Firth that it was an honour to work with someone so talented. Burton had done so many awful films and Equus came at a time when he must have given up on ever seeing another decent script. To have Firth cast opposite him to take on an equal part of the responsibility of setting the mood and delivering the meaning must have given Burton some joy.

Speaking of Burton, The Spy Who Came in From the Cold is excellent. I just watched Darling again with two of my other favorites Dirk Bogarde and Julie Christie.

I have too many to list now, but some good ones that I've re-watched recently are The Royal Tennenbaums, Hero, The Bourne Identity (best of the three imho), Immortal Beloved, About a Boy and Waltz of the Toreadors (Peter Sellars at his best.) Almost forgot Zoolander and Bedazzled, the Peter Cook/Dudley Moore version which I think I might watch tonight.

Rooftop scene:
Beth and Dmitri sneak up and disarm Lucas, cuff him and lead him away.
Lucas screams, "No Harry please, I'd rather die!"

Harry: "We're sending you to rehab ................. in Texas."

RE: Favourite films?
I did say "marginally older" by which I mean women who were roughly the same age as him Smile

Speaking of Julie Christie, I forgot to mention "Away From Her", which I adored.
