RE: New Doctor Who Discussion
I must admit I thought 'here we go again' when Rory was asked to come on board the TARDIS, but I think I trust the writers sufficiently to do something different. I'm hoping this one isn't resolved the same way as Rose/Mickey and I think we can rely on that, at least, as the characters are sufficiently like Ros and Mickey.
Plus, having Rory on board might tell us more about Amy. My sister and I also have bets going on how short her next skirt/dress will be. Which I'm sure the boys are enjoying. But hey, if I had legs like Karen Gillan's I would too. I saw some pics of her at a premiere last week, she was wearing a green dress and she looked HOT. But then, I have always wanted red hair. (Unfortunately I would look ridiculous with it.) Anyway....back on topic JHyde. HellsBells, I love that dynamic too, Donna and the Doctor. It was one of the best things about Season 4 and the ongoing joke about 'oh, we're not together' was so funny. Plus, David Tennant and Catherine Tate (whom I ADORE) was just so terrific. In a lot of ways Donna was my favourite companion since the series came back. Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

RE: New Doctor Who Discussion
Yes, Donna is my favourite companion from the David Tennant era too. It was good that the writers moved away from companions being in love with the Doctor and hero-worshipping him. Donna was a good foil for the Doctor because she saw his faults clearly as well as his good qualities. They were "mates" and that came across really well. It was also good to have a more mature companion!! The episode with the Ood and The Doctors Daughter are really good Donna episodes and in Turn Left we see a frightening alternative universe come into creation because Donna and the Doctor never met. All wonderful stuff combined with the 2 part finale, makes season 4 my all time favourite season so far.

RE: New Doctor Who Discussion
Can't believe we are already halfway through the season with tonights episode, Amy's Choice. Another good episode, with lots of character moments. KG is good as Amy, torn between her two men. Toby Jones is really good as the Dream Lord, very mean to poor MS. Loved the Shaun of the Dead like murdering pensioners. Loved the twist at the end with the Dream Lords identity, I had no clue, I thought it might have been the Trickster or somebody like him.
Felt sorry for poor Nitrus regarding Amy's wardrobe for this episode: the maternity clothes and the poncho. Brilliant. We are only halfway through the season and people are already claiming that the new Stephen Moffat DW isn't as good as RTD's. This is absolute rubbish, I think. It's different which is a good thing. http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/t...pectations We move on from this It's the realisation that I make a negligible difference Sometimes you have to give a man a chance |

RE: New Doctor Who Discussion
I have been loving this series definitely more than I have others, I think it is a more younger fresh dynamic and I love the funny parts.
I will never be able to walk through my village and look at the old people normally again hahaha |

RE: New Doctor Who Discussion
Fantastic and strangely sad episode from a writer who I have never really liked (Simon Nye) but who came good on this episode, on this show.
Toby Jones was wonderful as the Dream Lord and I loved how they made the monster come from within the Doctor. Very appropriate. I love the Combi! I have always wanted one. That was a very sad scene, the one where the Doctor was trying to pick up as many people as he could and there were others running who couldn't keep up. I loved the Rory/Amy denouement and so we already have a different dynamic from Mickey/Rose. Rose was always a little bit selfish, I think, much as I liked the character. Amy isn't the same person and I think this episode told us a lot about her. Plus, her outfit in the TARDIS was really cool. The one with the blazer, not the poncho Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

RE: New Doctor Who Discussion
It's ok, the trailer for next week showed a lot of leg!
I really liked this episode, but I felt they could have gone further and darker with the plot. I think it would have made a good two-parter with multiple dreams. Something else to note, the plot for this episode is very similar to an upcoming movie called Inception, the whole concept of "you don't know it's a dream until you wake up" is used in that film too. I think it was a good idea to use dreams, they are fascinating things and we understand little about them. Sig & Av Guidelines | Rules | Spoiler Policy |

RE: New Doctor Who Discussion
I've joined this thread slightly late but oh well
I really like Matt Smith, wasn't too keen on him to begin with but he's really grown on me. I think David Tennant will always be 'my doctor' but he's brought a fresh feel to the show- the "are you pregnant then?" line from last night was classic. Overall a good episode, especially the zombie old people KG's grown on me too, I am extremely jealous of her legs :O I thought that the dream lord would end up being the Trickster too, Aria. Nice twist when it turned out to be the doctor. Hate the new theme tune though. |

That whole thing over calling her Chubbs was so funny. especially because as soon as he said it I started groaning at how terrible a nickname it was!

RE: New Doctor Who Discussion
Another solid episode tonight with The Hungry Earth. MS is getting better and better as the Doctor and they have had some excellent guest stars in this series and that continues tonight with Meera Syal and the actress who plays Alaya. Loved the Doctor with his cool shades and even though KG did not feature that much I loved her, "did you just shush me line". Liked creepy Alaya telling her "protectors" she knows which one of them kills her and provokes the war (a self-fulfilling prophecy perhaps). Also liked the fact that nobody is particularly in the wrong here, you can understand the Silurian point of view. Bring on next week!!
