This is my most hated Spooks episode. Don't get me wrong, there are others I do not like but I could not watch this episode ever again. I even thought the Harry/Ruth moments were done poorly. Not the fault of any of the actors though. Very odd for Spooks. |

Totally agree with you Tea Lady. I have only watched this episode twice and plan not to watch it again. Lucas 8.4: It's all about trust, isn't Harry ?. Signature by the brilliant TygerBright |

RE: Episode 3 Discussion
rewatched this ep last night its strange when you know whats comming the first time i saw this ep i had no idea what happened to jo and its so sad because ros knows what she has to do and jo giving the nodd and the moment between them is just heartbreaking they have got much closer since the end of S6 and the events of s7 or as close as you can get to ros. but ros is really properly deeply affected by shooting her and this is evident by her sitting on the floor i imagine she stayed there for quite a while. it really affects the whole team especialy ruth who is already low and emotional ;(

RE: Episode 3 Discussion
I still don't like this episode, even though I have watched it a few more times. It is indeed shocking but I still tend to find it quite boring. I guess Jo was killed off because the actress wished to leave the show, but I don't know for sure.

Thanks for your info- I haven't found anything on the net about why Jo was killed off. Series 8 Spoiler: show |

RE: Episode 3 Discussion
I dont think it would have been as dramatic. It would have been another terrorist getting killed.

RE: Episode 3 Discussion
That fact Jo died was indeed dramatic, but I think many people could see that her death was rather easily preventable, it didn't have that feel of 'inevitability'. I personally thought that Jo deserved a better exit, but it did allow some interesting development in Ros's character.

RE: Episode 3 Discussion
Sorry brand new here. I'm an American viewer and I really love the show. It is one of my favorite shows on TV by far.
I haven't commented before but I just watched this episode and though I thought it was well done. As always the dialogue and story line were riveting though I was disappointed to see Jo die, she was my favorite character by far. I found the inaccuracies to be glaring. First off any intelligence officer is going to know when confronted with a target holding a trigger device for a bomb, a head shot through the mouth is how you kill them. The distance between Ros and terrorist Jo was holding was close enough that this should not have been an issue. I really found that to be below the normal standards of realism you see in the show. I may be a little more critical because, as I mentioned, Jo was my favorite character in the show. Second thing is that they portray Americans in a really bad light. I was wondering is this the general regard that the UK citizens view America and it's intelligence services or do you feel it's ramped up in the show as a plot device? Hope someone answers as I am very curious to know. Over, all as usual a great show. Sad to read that season 10 is the last one. I will miss it sorely. |
