I'll have your rooftop scene, Jhokur. I still think Harry KNOWS.
Sorry, Apicius, can't find it. I thought it was in the "S9 Filming..." directory, but maybe I saw it somewhere else. I can't find it in my "Spooks pics" area (on my home computer) either... I can describe it. Series 9.8 Spoiler: show |

RE: Series 9 Episode 7 discussion
Can anyone help me out with a scene that's been bugging me?
When Vaughn returns to his house and the chinese henchman puts the gun to his neck he asks "Are you bluffing __________?" - What was the name he said? Thought it sounded more like Sam than John, but my hearing really isn't what it should be. When the chinese boss asks who is bluffing Vaughn apologises and says he didn't realise it was him. So who did he think would put a gun to his neck, John? Some other party we don't know anything about yet? |

Suggestion b) is something that I've been thinking about increasingly. But think that they wouldn't do a close copy of a story line, as they like new writing. Possibly could adapt it with some new twists...? I'm really excited about seeing this episode but the enjoyment is tainted somewhat with the knowledge that it is the last of this season and therefore we have so long to wait before our next new Spooks fix. Bring back the 10 episode series format!! (although perhaps would still feel left short) (07-11-2010 10:31 AM)George Wrote:(07-11-2010 08:55 AM)BoHenley Wrote: I'll have your rooftop scene, Jhokur. I'm with George on this one.
I think Harry knows and they're trying to smoke somebody out. |

RE: Series 9 Episode 7 discussion
Is there anyone who doesn't think we are going to have a Kurosawa-type third point of view for the Dakar scenes which will show the truth and resolve all? The only thing I can't get a handle on is who's point of view we're going to get. Best guess as of now
Spoiler: show As always, I reserve the right to change my mind starting 5 minutes from now. Rooftop scene: Beth and Dmitri sneak up and disarm Lucas, cuff him and lead him away. Lucas screams, "No Harry please, I'd rather die!" Harry: "We're sending you to rehab ................. in Texas." |

RE: Series 9 Episode 7 discussion
I have a problem with all this turmoil that is happening caused by trying to protect Maya. I think the writers dropped the ball here. There was really very little back story about John & Maya....she just appears and all of a sudden she is the love of his life! He was already leading a double life as John/Lucas, she knew him as John, so which personality did she fall in love with? Would a cold blooded killer like John risk everything for the sake of a woman? For Maya to be the catalyst we have to be invested in their relationship and I am not. RA is doing a fantastic job with the duo personality conflict but the aching love for Maya is just not on the radar.

It's when the editors really need to INCLUDE some character development, isn't it? We SHOULD (as viewers) feel something towards Maya. Instead she's almost irrelevant. And if she's supposed to be pivotal to the Lucas/John story - WE DON'T SEE IT.

RE: Series 9 Episode 7 discussion
If Maya was the love of Lucas's life 15 years ago, does that mean she was in Dakar aswell? Or had he left her behind before going to Dakar, because he seemed to be there for quite a while, gathering the money together to afford to return to the UK. For someone who is supposed to be 'the one' he certainly managed to push her out of his mind for a very long time.
And I'm afraid the problem with Maya is the wishy washy acting of Laila Rouass. I have tried to get used to her, but there is not one shred of chemistry between her and RA. It's not RA that's the problem, it's her. I'm sure in one of RA's many interviews he said something about them knowing each other from way back and that their love scene was like working with an old friend. I reckon RA knew the scenes weren't up to scratch and was making excuses in advance! |
