Ok, I suppose it was more my interpretation that was out than anything else, thanks Silktie.

Truly exceptional episode; Ashley Kumar (Ashok) is quite a gifted young actor; it would be great if Ashok did indeed join the grid but considering his distrust of the securtiy services I have to agree. BRILLIANT episode!!!

Ashok was living that political/human situation. On first hearing nothing jumped out as insight a politician could only have (or not have as the case may be.)

His not killing the so-called bay guy showed that it was more important that he convince said bad guy of the truth of the situation even though it put everyone in the building at risk of a horrible death.

I think RA did a wonderful job of standing down as the star of his scenes with Ashok, letting the child really show his gravitas while he just stood there showing the respect grow on his face.

Ashok's age could have been a problem in the way you reference Silktie if the writers hadn't done such a good job of setting up the character. The first time we meet him, he comes across as intelligent, articulate, thoughtful and savvy. I had no problem believing anything he said throughout the ep, especially after hearing about his efforts and problems finding someone to play football with -- he's had to grow up quickly and he's found wisdom through his struggles. He's nobody's fool though, as we hear quite clearly in his interactions with Lucas.

I like how Ashok told Lucas that he knew he was being played!! Just like Sarah played him!! Wow....very tense episode.
Still like episode 4 better

I was definitely not implying that only a politician could have this insight, but merely that it is the type of insight one gains with years of experience of a particular situation. True, he was living in that situation, but honestly, how many 17 year olds do you know with such a deep understanding of what motivates other human beings to do what they do? My point is that it was rather fortuitous that such a wise 17-year old was already in place for them to use. Also, I wasn't saying that Lucas should have killed the guy at the end, but that it would have been in Spooks tradition if he went ahead and killed himself. But that's just my bloodlust talking.

I agree - but if Lucas had bared his bum in Ep7 too it would have been a definite contender.......

I must admit I thought Dhillon was going to light himself on fire too after he let Ashok go. I'm prepared to take that scene as it was, although the same problems crossed my mind afterwards, because I found it incredibly tense and powerful both times I've watched it.
