Series 9 Rumours & Speculation

Speculation: Vaughan and Lucas were in Africa either on assignment together or linked through an MI5 case. The two of them swindled the Chinese at a gambling house or casino (there were chips in "that bag" Vaughan handed to Lucas). They blew up the casino to (a) cover their butts, and (b) escape, but also killed a heap of innocent people. Lucas/John did escape and changed his identity, Vaughan possibly got caught and was later exchanged or has been sent by the Chinese to track Lucas down (or something - sorry haven't quite worked it all out).

Lucas may then be desperate to do ANYTHING so he's not handed over to the Chinese CSS plus keep the whole thing concealed. And if Vaughan adds a threat to tell/harm Maya...then you have an agent who's one step short of psychotic. I still think the end scene will be Harry vs Lucas - I thought they'd be aiming guns at each other but I'd forgotten from those Spookses that went to the filming sessions, that (WARNING)

Series 9.8 Spoiler: show

"somebody" either jumps or is pushed off a high rise building. It could be Lucas, who can no longer deal with the shame of what he's done, or he could do it to Harry and have us all tearing our hair out for 12 months. Either way, I don't think Lucas will survive, unless he's arrested and thrown in gaol. Harry will survive (somehow).
