Some spoilers if you have not seen series 2 yet.

Yes, I still love it but agree series 1 was better than series 2. The whole of WW1 was finished in about 2 hours 45 minutes!

Maggie Smith is ace but again I think her lines were more natural in series 1. I thought the writers were trying too hard to think up one liners for her in series 2.

I do love almost all the characters though. I think that is the trick. There are so many characters who get an equal amount of screen time, that you are engrossed in several stories at the same time. I love the Bates and Anna relationship too. They seem to be doing a "Harry & Ruth" thing though, with angst at every turn.

I am not sure when the Christmas special will be on. The Christmas TV magazines in the UK usually come out at the start of December.

I did think ITV quite brave though to show Bates and Anna in bed together...
