Bishop to King's Rook - Chapter II
As long ago promised, I'm continuing my entry into a full story. I'm sorry for the long delay but I will work on the following chapters much quicker. As previously noted, the events in the story take place before Series 1.

Chapter II - The Bishop is Revealed

Tom, Malcolm, and Harry are in the briefing room, discussing the recent disappearance of Lucas.

“Has there been any hint of where they have taken him?” Harry asked with a tone that emphasised the importance of finding something, anything if possible, to Malcolm. “Since Lucas’s phone went dead when they grabbed him Harry, I have not received a signal Harry – I am working on it to the best of my ability.” Indeed, Malcolm was – the best ‘Data Analyst’ Section D ever had, though Malcolm never took to the title as important. He enjoyed what he did, and rightly so. “I know you are... thank you Malcolm. For the moment, our priority is to get Lucas,” Harry reassured Malcolm.

“I’ll get back to the scanners then – I’ve been running tests on the note as well, to see if handwriting analysis could give a clue as to the Russians involved.” Malcolm rose and left the room, returning to the lab area.

“Harry, what are the chances of getting Lucas back?” Tom inquired. Harry paced the length of the table as Tom kept eyes on him. “For what we know he may be out of the country already.” Harry stopped for a moment. A thought he did not want to think about, indeed. “We will find Lucas, and we will get him back. I don’t care who I have to deal with, or how we deal with them, but we will return Lucas to this office.“ Harry stopped his pacing across from Tom, folding his arms. “In the meantime however, I need you to take on Lucas’s role around here. I’m sorry that it will be only temporary until Lucas is back, but this team needs direction.” Harry leans on the table, speaking a little quieter to Tom. “This will also not go over well with Tessa - she will feel that her time here means she should get prioritised treatment. She is a capable agent, but a leader – no.” Pausing, with a slight nervous smile, “Well, let’s break the news to them gently then.”

As Tom and Harry make their way to the front of the office, Tessa hurries herself to them. “I’ve gotten a call from a Tajikistan informant who says that the Russian government has no idea who’s taken Lucas or why he was taken – definitely not state sponsored at all. Needless to say they’re not happy either as they’re feeling the heat.” The news pleased and frustrated Harry at the same time as Connie interjects herself into the conversation. “Have you encountered the name ‘Ermolai Biriukov’ before? The contacts I’ve been able to talk refer to him as ‘Episkop’ – The Bishop - very religiously devout. However he was recruited and trained by the KGB in the ‘60s as an interrogation specialist. If he’s involved as some suggest, Harry... well, we need to find Lucas quickly. The rest of the news isn’t as pleasant.” Harry nods in agreement. “I’ve elected to have Tom take over for Lucas’s duties – for now, I need to make a few calls. I’ll be in my office, but please see to it that I’m not disturbed. Thank you all, now back to your duties.”

At a car park miles away, a solitary figure sits on a metal chair in an off-used room, bound with ropes and handcuffs. The light above sways with the puff of air that occasionally passes through, illuminating the cloth sack over the figure’s head. There is very little noise, save the occasional heavy breathing, laboured both by the sack and the restraints. A slightly older man, tall and slender, stands on the side. He begins to count on a grey vervica, eyes closed as he faced the bound figure. “Your friends, Lukas. Do they worry about you at this time?” His voice is low and gravelly, but somehow still calming to the ears. “What of Elizaveta? Has she been told of your absence?” The figure strains to lift his head, uttering a slight groan. “Let me see you, so I know what kind of man you are”, replies Lucas. The older man walks over, removing the cloth sack from Lucas’s head, and then stepping back to the shadows. The light seemed to burn his eyes, having had them closed for some time. As he squints, cocking his head to the side, he sees the older man. “Who are you?” he asks. “You may call me a friend Lukas. I am here to help you.” Crouching down in front of Lucas, he looks him in the eyes while placing his hands on Lucas’s. “You can call me Ermolai.”

RE: Bishop to King's Rook - Chapter II
Another good chapter here, need the next chapter though, I need to find out what happens to that very sexy man!!

Lucas North: Your situation is more precarious than you realize, Connie, so stop pressing buttons and give us something.
Connie James: Threats don't work with a person who has nothing to lose.
Lucas North: Oh, you're too ingenious to think that I'm threatening you. I'm offering you a simple choice: help us or don't. I'll leave you to compute the implication.Cool

RE: Bishop to King's Rook - Chapter II
Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement - I sometimes have a hard time because my mind gives me grandiose ideas of what to do then putting finesse to the words leaves me guessing. After posting I noted a couple areas I should have fixed but will take this to the next chapter to shape it more. It also gives me more impetus to write stories for the other characters in later series.
