I like her! I've said this on the S9 topic area/boards, but I think she's really cool. I love her character's confident introduction in 9.1 and I find her to be tough as nails, smart, and mysterious. Smile

Of course, I've only seen 3 episodes with her -so there is a chance I may end up disliking her if they have a storyline that is negative in regards to her- but I like her thus far. Smile

I also recently found out she (Sophia Myles) was in Moonlight, a show that was on a few years ago here in the USA. I watched that show too and I didn't recognize that she was on that show until I was looking at some clips on YouTube and saw some Moonlight clips. I was a bit surprised to find that out...then again, it has been years since I've seen Moonlight. She had a great American accent on Moonlight. Anyway...sorry if I went too off-topic there! I guess I got too excited. Smile

I'm not sure. I'm disappointed about that, but my best guess is that its a contractual issue. What is your guess? I wonder what others think too.

No idea.Like you I,m disappointed,I was looking forward to getting to know the character better.Also I was looking forward to a bit of continuity in s10.I felt there were too many new characters introduced in s9.In previous series new characters were overlapped .

Yeah I love Beth (and am a fan of Sophia), so I'm displeased. I don't think they've gone into her character much. THey should do more.

That's true...there was definitely a huge influx of new characters. They could have done more development. Hopefully S10 will have more development..

I'd take a guess that Sophia probably thought they didn't utilise her strengths (which is true) Maybe she thought the role would be bigger than it turned out to be and she's working on moving onto something else. Perhaps Kudos were disappointed with the overall portrayal of Beth as she was neither loved nor hated. The thing with Spooks is that the characters are often established via subtle means as the action/plot unfolds rather than by direct writing and the actors who have garnered a following have done so from their own efforts as much as from the writing. Malcolm is a classic example. And Harry of course. I'm sure I read it was a mutual thing, her not signing for another series. I hope she finds something more out there as I do like her in other things.

Anything ever come to light as to why Sophia Myles was not in S10?

From comments made by the writers it would appear that they had been planning to evolve Beth's character so it would appear that she left of her own choice.

I've never come across any news in relation to this.

she moved to america with her boyfriend it was on cult box in there intereview before s1 with the writers, so beth was decomisioned during harrys absencense personaly didnt miss Beth i didnt warm to her, she always seemed shifty didnt know whether to trust her or not.

Agree with you - she was an odd character. I never really warmed to her and also felt she had her own agenda.
