The Spy Who Came in from the Cold
Until the first series of Spooks aired, I'd always thought this film was the best portrayal of Britains' spooks at work.
Shot in B&W, it adds to the twists and turns of the storyline which is the best rendition of any Le Carre novel IMO. Richard Burton as Alec Leamas was perhaps the high point of his career. |

RE: The Spy Who Came in from the Cold
It's a good film. A few of us are also very excited about 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy', which is getting a remake.
Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

RE: The Spy Who Came in from the Cold
Tinker Tailor.....another good one. Also The Sandbaggers, I wonder why that one has never been reprised?
If there was a top 20 of the best spy dramas/films over the years, I'd have to say that the Roger Moore 007 versions wouldn't even make it, they are so corny. The Pierce Brosnan ones were the best IMO, excepting From Russia with Love, the best one Connery appeared in. Incidentally, I ordered The Spy who came in from the Cold on DVD this week from Amazon. £3.97 postage paid. No idea how they do stuff at these prices! |

berto will LOVE that there is another person on here who loved Sandbaggers. He is a BIG fan.
I'm moving this thread to the Break Room, I think it's better suited for there. Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

RE: The Spy Who Came in from the Cold
Le Carre novels are the only spy novels worth reading.

RE: The Spy Who Came in from the Cold
I enjoy Kent Follett as well but he probably doesnt really counts as spy novelist...
