[spoilers] Lucas. Just Lucas.

I hate what they are doing to Lucas (they=writers). Why must we visit the love sick Lucas thing again? Wasn't the Sarah incident enough? I can see somebody getting one over on Lucas, but twice? Why do the writers hate Lucas?
Isn't the Vaughn/Lucas plot line enough? I mean he just, supposedly, ruined some poor guy, but setting him up, but then he runs off into the arms of Maya. I had hopes of maybe there is more too this all, but as read the episode guide, it's clear, Lucas is just as retarded as the story line. Shame, I had high hopes for this season.

I have to believe that there is something more than what we are seeing on screen. I can't ever believe that Lucas is simply an evil person who only cares about himself, he has shown so many times he is not.

What people hate about the mess of Lucas's life is what I really love about him and how I think he is a realistic character. I mean, think about it, he spent 8 years being tortured, it's a miracle that he even has coherent brain functions and isn't a completely mindless fool. If he is being love-sick, then it's only natural that after so many years of hell, that he's desperately trying to reach for that physical connection. He needs that, he desires that, so when women come into his life, Lucas jumps into it head first without thinking because he's so afraid that it'll be gone. That's his weakness, and personally, it's a fitting thing for his character after all that's happened.

Lucas is a walking contradiction, but I've always said that his loyalty to Harry and MI5 wins over all, because he has shown time and time again that he would always come through when it really counted. So I'm gonna hold onto that belief.

Whatever that's gonna happen, I'm gonna hold onto the fact that Lucas has always been there when Harry needed him, because in my heart, I just know he will never let Harry down.

Please Spooks writers, don't take the best part of Lucas away, if you must kill him, then let him die a hero. After everything he has suffered, isn't it enough? Just let him have that one moment of peace.

First time poster.

I'm not sure what to make of this but I've noticed in each episode this series someone has been unwilling or unable to see. Harry covers his eyes when the HS is dying, Beth claims it was too dark in the elevator to see the killers, Victor scornfully tells Lucas to look away, and Kai shuts his eyes when he threatens to shoot Jiang Li.

I'm clinging to the belief that it isn't just a random coincidence, and it's meant to indicate that we're not seeing Lucas in series 9 as he truly his.

I refuse to believe that Lucas is a bad guy.

I'm hiding in my denial-corner, I just can't believe Lucas is bad or that he will hurt Harry, especially since I have started working on my Lucas/Harry video with the song "I'd Come For You" by Nickelback, I just simply can't see Lucas as disloyal. He's always there when Harry really needed him, he's always cared about the teammates he works with, heck, he blamed himself when Ros died, you can't tell me that was just him acting, I just can't see him suddenly becoming cold blooded and ruthless.

Seriously, I don't think they will "go there" for one reason alone - the Lucas as a baddie thing is being so set up, that the only really clever thing to do is to completely surprise us. I think we are being led down the garden path.

I am still trying to wrap my brain around him but he is indeed one contradicting guy! He is brilliant in the field - calm, intelligent, resourceful, a good mentor, protective of his team - but his personal life is fraught with angst and need and pain. That must be one bad secret Vaughn is holding over him!

That's what I am desperately hoping, that this is really a ploy to keep us guessing and that they will give us a complete twist we never saw coming! At this point, I'm not even demanding that Lucas has to be alive at the end of the series, I just want him to remain good!

I can take anything as long as Lucas remains loyal to Harry! That's always been what I love most about Lucas, his loyalty to his people!

It's no wonder that Lucas was so desperate to want to come back to work at MI5, it's the one place that gives him strength, the one place where he can be whole. Without his job, I think Lucas would go insane, this job offers him the only time where he can forget the nightmares and the pain.

And this is the reason why I can't ever see Lucas betraying MI5 and Harry, he has said before that MI5 is his home. MI5 and this job is everything to Lucas, it's what he's fighting to keep, I just can't see him easily throwing it away.

Lucas will not betray Harry or MI5. We might want to "slap" him (he's so infuriating at times) or hug him (stand in line behind me) and his personal life might be a mess, but he's loyal. I think he's working "offstage" to bring around a twist on the Vaughan/Albany scenario, but it won't be revealed until the last minutes of episode 8 - otherwise, where's our series cliffhanger? And I still think we have a SUPER DUPER TWIST coming.

Lucas may or may not survive (of course, I hope he does) but he's no traitor.

This is what I am holding onto, and normally if this was any other show I'm watching, I would be 100% sure, but with Spooks, it's the only show I can never be sure what I think is right because these writers enjoy throwing curve balls at us and taking away characters at the drop of a hat.

Lucas's loyalty has always been the best part of him, I never want to see that destroyed, so as of right now, I simply refuse to believe it!

Even when he was framing the other agent, the looks in his eyes showed regret and he did hesitate for a brief second. And once again when the issue of betrayal was brought up about Kai betraying his own brother, Lucas certainly did not take kindly to that.

All of that just convinces me even more that Lucas isn't a traitor or evil.

I would think that it would be more useful if Lucas does survive, I mean, Series 10 has been confirmed so we know there is another series, so if Lucas is killed, what's gonna happen to the team? Is Harry gonna promote one of the newbies? I mean, that's hardly gonna work that well, Beth and Dimitri are still kids compared to the old schools. I can't ever see either of them being section chief. And Ruth and Tariq aren't field agents. So who's gonna be section chief? Are they gonna introduce a new character with experience then?

Having Lucas around is so much better, and we may even see more character development between Lucas and Harry!

Yes, I saw the hesitation as well, but what is it that is so horrible that he makes the choice between destroying another mans life and career or coming clean to Harry?

His reaction to Kai betraying his brother was a little over the top for me. Methinks the man doth protest too much, if you get my drift. Was his reaction to Kai so strong just for operational purposes or is he transferring some of his own angst? In other words, is there a parallel between Kai/Kai's brother and Lucas/Vaughan?

Maybe Vaughan is Lucas' brother ? Not a lot of resemblance though.
