RE: Series 9 Episode 5 Discussion
well I think we all saw that one coming........
although I previously thought Maya was friends with both Lucas (John) and Vaughan in the past & they all knew one another. Obviously I was wrong. The plot thickens. |

On a different note: for the first time, I was actually afraid that Lucas was going to die in today's episode. I know it's not logical with all the details of his past still to be uncovered, but I had the worst feeling about today... All I can say is...Phew, he's still there! |

RE: Series 9 Episode 5 Discussion
A good episode with some great performances from the guest actors (Levi, Anna and Elwan) as well as our regulars. NW was awesome as per usual, I know Tea Lady has stated that she thinks this series is PF's best, I think its also Nicola's as well.
Lucas was really good tonight, I thought, in control and on top of his game. Pity we had that last scene with Maya and Vaughn/Michael (he doesn't half clean up well) and now we'll get broody Lucas. I know you have to suspend belief when watching Spooks, but sometimes it can get a bit ludicrous. They spend the whole episode telling us that these are "secret" talks, nobody can know the President is involved and yet the 2 delegations plus their security details stand outside a major London hotel waiting for the big black limos with the American flags!! One downside of reading Wylie's blog was that I spent most of the last 20 minutes waiting for next weeks trailer. It was worth it!!! Yay hands!! We move on from this It's the realisation that I make a negligible difference Sometimes you have to give a man a chance |

RE: Series 9 Episode 5 Discussion
It was really nice to have an ep that did not focus on Lucas' back story and on Vaughn. I am sure it will be different next week. But it was nice to see Lucas focussed on the problem at hand, being competent and active, not distracted by his personal life. And I am really not looking forward to all the chaos of Lucas unraveling next week (at least, it seems like that from the trailer). He is such a central figure as section head, and it is nice to see him acting a a coach to the newbies.

RE: Series 9 Episode 5 Discussion
Yeah, I really enjoyed Lucas tonight and if he is allowed into series 10 to continue as Section Chief then I'd like to see much more of his commanding side. His chemistry with both Dimitri and Beth is excellent. Harry and Ruth were fantastic as ever.
It wasn't rock n roll all-action Spooks, but it was effective and obviously led up to an exciting twist that I cannot get my head around nor work out what's going to happen - it's great! "They're awfully tenacious, bless them. I think they want to give me a polonium suppository." - Ros, 7.1 |

RE: Series 9 Episode 5 Discussion
First impressions? The last two minutes, including the trailer were the most entertaining. Next week's episode looks as though it's going to be more focussed on Lucas's back story and YAY! Harry and Ruth. Can't wait!!!
Tonight's story was definitely the writers trying to remind us fans that the show is about espionage and terrorism. Yes, it was entertaining and knife edge drama, but I secretly think most of us live for the little moments behind the characters. I loved Dimitri in this one, he's a great character, and Max Brown is a superb actor. If Spooks is allowed to continue I think he may be in it for a while (that's if he's not killed off in typical Spooks fashion). |

RE: Series 9 Episode 5 Discussion
A right little bobby dazzler of an episode. Totally loved it and had me totally sucked in for the whole hour.
Was it just me, or did anyone else burst out laughing when Beth used the car jack with her knees. What leg muscles that girl has. She could crack walnuts with those thighs. Loved both Levi and his daughter. There was clearly a deliberate parallel there between Harry and Ruth/George, and the decision Levi had to make for the greater good and the decision Harry had to make to sacrifice George. That seemed to play on Harry's mind I felt for the rest of the episode, even though we didn't really see much of him. I think it really got to him, when Levi said, "when she needed me most.." As for Lucas, he was quite good, although was quite crap at fighting. Ruth picked up on him shouting at Tariq though, again she knows something isn't right with him. Yes, we all thought Vaughn may have been Maya's fella so that wasn't a surprise, and yes Aria, he does scrub up well. It clearly looks like Maya is innocent though in all of this. Lucas is being played big time and the fool fell for it. Thought Dimitri did ok, but I still don't think he gets very good lines. Saw a bit more of him though this week so that's ok. Harry had another new gold tie this episode. This one had brown spots. Who says the producers don't read these forums!! I say it again, I think this series really is brilliant. Hardly a foot wrong so far (completely not thinking about the Lucas story here.) |

Subscribing to thread so I can keep track of what I've read so far.
Rooftop scene: Beth and Dmitri sneak up and disarm Lucas, cuff him and lead him away. Lucas screams, "No Harry please, I'd rather die!" Harry: "We're sending you to rehab ................. in Texas." |
