OK - I really have to stop screaming at the TV as I'm watching this show! Unfortunately I have a feeling that it's only going to get worse in the next two episodes! Great stuff from the team on the Grid - as everyone said, it's lovely to see them all working together in lock-down and brought out the newer members as well.

My main reason for shouting at the TV came from Lucas's actions of course. Whether we like what he's doing or not, it's a brilliant portrayal of someone losing their grip. Lucas wandered back and forth across the moral divide in this episode and his fear and desperation was palpable. The ending with the cybergeek girl was especially chilling as the gentle tender Lucas used his caring side to ease a woman to death. I actually got chills. It was astonishingly awful to watch - like seeing someone losing their soul.

I can't wait for the next two episodes yet I don't know if I can watch them. Ah the genius of Spooks writers - suck you in and make you slowly die inside for the characters!

You're so right, it's a classic tale of good against evil, Lucas the good guy doing his best to fight off the evil person that was John. For all the nastiness that John brings out in him I do want Lucas to come out of this alive as I feel he's paid his penance by spending those years in a Russian cell. I agree RA is doing a stunning job of portraying this inner battle and it's the first series I've cared about the character so that's big high fives for actor and writers.

Well I rewatched this episode on the ABC and it was really great (lucas stuff aside at the end) though my Mum did offer the concluding comment of "Spooks 2011: This John guy is suddenly Darth Vadar and Evil comes knocking to say "Lucas, I am your father." She wasn't far wrong there Tongue

I really loved Harry at the end of this episode with the line about the "awful crick in the neck." I laugh every time.

I generally don't like the Lucas/Maya/Albany storyline, but I think they made it decent this week. I think Lucas did his best to balance out concerns about Albany along with the codes. However, he ended up not succeeding with either one. It was tough to see that, but I felt it was well written.

I also like the storyline about the hacking and how each member of the team gave great ideas of how to counter the hackers' actions. During the whole episode, I was wondering how they would deal with each challenge and they handled it cleverly (I especially like Tariq's and Dmitri's roles and Ruth's clever strategy of letting Harry know about what was happening). Harry's appearance at the end- with him fooling the hackers- was very cool. Typical Cool Harry Smile.

It was great to see Malcolm back as well.

Series 9.7 Spoiler: show
Looking forward to the next episode! I'm especially excited about the showdown between Lucas and Beth! I love Beth, but don't want Lucas to get shot either. Its going to be exciting.

I like this episode for one reason, Malcom is my favorite character. I'm watching it on Netflix and so this is only as far as I've gotten into the series so I don't know what's coming up next. So no spoiler reply's!

I would say that I really was disappointed in Lucas he was one of my favorite operatives on the show. That he would let the Hacker die and go and try and kill Malcom just made me lose any sense of sympathy for him. To me he is a traitor and a murderer now what ever happens to him if it's not death then it's better than he deserved.

Great episode though, locations, camera work, the plot all where excellent. I kind of ignored that most intelligence work off an intranet not internet so access from the outside except for the lowest priority information is not retrievable. Once I forgot that I enjoyed the show immensely.

As for the question about the Hacker, she wasn't a deep south trailer trash girl. She was just supposed to represent the cyberpunk hacker culture in the US. Lots of tats and calls that all information should be free! It was a good clique to put her in because it fit her going to jail and then working for the govt.

Great show all around.

Did Malcolm genuinely slip up with the "John" name-calling? Or does he actually know the truth? Perhaps indicating that Harry would too...
Having just watched this episode, I was puzzled by the references to Malcolm calling Lucas 'John' and to Malcolm's mother appearing. I have just watched the scene with L and M again, and at no time does M call L'John', nor does his mother appear.

Does this mean that the version that Israeli TV has been edited? When does M call L 'John'?

Yes, in some other countries they cut out scenes to allow time in the programme for advertisements.

It happens during Lucas' first visit to Malcolm to ask him for the Albany file - Malcolm's mother appears and asks who Lucas is, and Malcolm introduces him as John, an old friend.

It's such a shame they do that. I think this is the reason many of the international fans buy the DVD's. They shouldn't have to. All episodes, without adverts, have a running time of around 59mins. Any shorter than that, you are watching an edited version.

It's a shame you told me that! All our episodes are about 50 minutes long - and that's without advertisements. I hate to think what else I've been missing.
