I agree - would like to see him in series 10.

RE: Series 9 Episode 8 discussion
Still feel a bit numb after that and a little in shock.

Plenty of stuff to keep us on the edge of our seat. I too thought Lucas had killed Ruth with that injection. I found that scene very distressing.

I loved the way Harry knew what he had to do, the moment Ruth was taken. You never saw him question himself. I do wonder though, if Albany was "live" would he have done the same thing, even for Ruth? As it was, Harry knew that all he would lose is his job. Quite frankly though A LITTLE THANK YOU WOULD NOT HAVE GONE AMISS RUTHY!!!

As for the end. I liked it and I knew that Lucas couldn't go through with the bomb. It wasn't really him. The "him" that he really wanted to be, but couldn't be. I knew he wouldn't kill Harry.

As for the final scene...I wonder if that was tacked on. Not that it isn't likely that Harry won't escape punishment, but Harry was holding his phone in exactly the same way as the end of the scene of 9.1. Also, did he have a cut above his eye? I didn't see one. I just thought that they used the footage for 9.1 again, for the nightime rooftop scene.

Outstanding performances from RA, NW, and PF again. Maya wasn't too bad either this week.

As others have said best part of the episode - Spooks returns 2011!

Alec to be new Section head?

Overall a good episode but some of the scenes between Lucas/Maya, Lucas/Ruth a bit off. Very un-Spookslike that there wasn't really a twist. Lucas did turn bad and I defy anyone to have guessed what Albany actually was.

The first half up to where Lucas "drugged" Ruth was edge-of-seat and then it tailed off a bit.

Series as a whole - each episode really enjoyable but somehow the totality wasn't as good. Too much emphasis on the one character (Lucas).

My biggest disappointment was that while we got the background on Beth we still don't know about Dmitri except that he was born in North London of immigrant parents (Greek or Greek Cypriot).

But there's no way PF will be leaving the series. I think they could have included a scene where the team found out that Harry was still alive.

what was the continuity error?Huh

Harry had a gash and blood on his forehead in one take, then it miraculously disappeared then reappeared when he had to turn around. I say it was glaring because I noticed it and believe me, I tend not to notice stuff like that.

thanks, I missed that one! I think I was traumatised by that point!

1: Why no explanation of Malcolm's involvement or any appearance in the episode?
2: No twists?

4: No real exploration of Lucas?

A disgruntled Spooks fan here!!!

Good point about Malcolm's absence from E8 - I find that pretty odd too. As for Harry selling out, surely the reason for that is obvious (i.e. Ruth) - he wanted to show her she came first, especially coming so soon after talk of her blaming him last episode for George's death. Besides, it wasn't a real sell out as Albany was a fake - which is reason enough why he should be reinstated to Section D head in S10!

Well another series over and mixed thoughts.

Its been a better series than what I was expecting. But was fully expecting this to be the final series. So pleasantly surprised to see that its been renewed. I guess having a 1-10 DVD boxset loks nicer than a 1-9 boxset Wink. Plus if they go past 2012 they will have to try and explain away Spooks Code 9 Wink

They have 1 job and only 1 job for series 10

BRING BACK TOM QUINN!!!!!

I'd like to think Ruth's reaction was more about Harry being in danger too, not Lucas, and a realisation of what he means to her. Hopefully she's got a lot of things out of her system this series and there'll be happier times ahead for them in S10 (are you listening Kudos...?!)

Happier times in Series 10... *Hopes* Wink
I agree there Gazelle, I thought Ruths reaction wasn't so much to Lucas but for Harry, thinking she could have lost him
I actually really Love the character of Alec! I would love for him to be in Series 10!
