How long have you been a Spooks fan and how did it happen

RE: How long have you been a Spooks fan and how did it happen
I, too, am new here and, judging from previous comments, am not the only New York viewer. I began watching maybe three years ago on my local PBS (Public Broadcasting System) channel. Here, it's more or less catch-as-catch-can, in other words, between the channel's fund drives. I wish I could have watched from the very beginning but at least am enjoying what I can catch. Imo, this is the very best in TV dramas certainly topping even the New York-centered offerings. My idea of Heaven is continuous broadcasting from the very beginning up to the most current - here it is the episode concerning the big "Ros" incident. I'm happy to have discovered this forum and thank you for it!

Oh, how did it happen - since I always turn first to PBS program offerings (their quality is the best featuring many Brit productions), I tuned in out of curiosity feeling if it's BBC, chances are it's going to be worth watching -- and I was right! Now I'm an addict!

I watched the first episode on BBC1 when it aired in 2002, and was hooked pretty much straight away. I rate it near the top of the pile as far as must-see TV is concerned, along with other series such as The West Wing, Doctor Who, ER, Babylon 5 and 24.

I watched it from the beginning and got hooked into it straight away. One of the series you always look forward to. Don't know what I will do without the excitement of a new series of Spooks to look forward to. Wonder if the Beeb will do something that carries on from Spooks.

Harry RE: How long have you been a Spooks fan and how did it happen
Living in the USA and have around 500 channels to watch with nothing on them except drivel one Friday night I was flipping around on the remote and tuned in to what I later learned was the first series of Spooks. There were two episodes on - back to back - I was hooked by ten minutes into the first one. Unfortunately at that point MI5 as it is known here for some bizaare reason was only on PBS channels in the East. I kept looking for it without luck and then one night I got Netflix and there it was. That was last year. I watched eight series of Spooks in about two months last November and December and then went through half of season nine in the spring and the second half just before the start of ten. The show is absolutely an obsession and this forum is a delight. I don't think there is a better show on television and it will be sorely missed when it ends, like a beloved book which you love so much you hate to see the end. It has hit the perfect note in this post 9/11 world.

I started watching in 2006. I had heard about it before (in the papers after the deep fat fryer incident!) but only started watching then. I was hooked after that.

I started watching the Spooks dvds recently, in 2010 really. I totally recommend it, because the acting, direction, editing, cinematography, writing... simply outstanding. Highly entertaining, it also provides deep characterization and a powerful humanitarian message.

I'm an English viewer and mine was a bit of an accident. I was 14 and I fell off of one of the living room sofas. My Dad took me to A+E while my Mum looked after my siblings. Turns out everything was okay apart from a slight fracture which mended itself in a few days. My parents was watching - when I got back - Spooks. can't remember the series or number but it was the one where a Christian Group or something raided an Islamic school with guns etc.

I was 12 years old back in 2002, and I was never one for early nights on school nights, and one Monday night Spooks started and that was that from episode one I was hooked Smile It became my favourite drama alongside the now also gone 'Waking the Dead'.

been watching spooks since the beginning. will miss it. bbc wont be the same! what i like about the programme was the story lines. the mossad hijacking the nuclear deal in series 5, and the u.n. negotiator being forced to resign in series 7 were brilliant!!! ( tony blair watch out! )

RE: How long have you been a Spooks fan and how did it happen
When Spooks began I was too young to fully appreciate it, but due to only having one tv and no Sky back then I was forced (well, rather that than homework) to watch it by my brother. By the beginning of series 2 I was completely hooked, not that I understood it any better but it's fast pace and fantastic characters kept me sitting down every Monday night. Both my brother and I have been fans ever since, and I'm going to miss our weekly episode-breakdown discussion over the phone. Ah well, nothing better to do now than start from series 1 again, goodbye Spooks!
