RE: How long have you been a Spooks fan and how did it happen
how long? only a few months.

how? by accident.. 'browsing' on Netflix (where all 9 seasons are available in 'streaming' format- no DVD rental required)- simply because I seem to (WAY!) prefer British produced tv shows and was looking for a new one.

to say my 'find' did not disappoint is an understatement!

RE: How long have you been a Spooks fan and how did it happen
I started watching Spooks when I was 13/14. I was quite understanding and mature for my age and appreciated it, but I didn't quite get the cogs and connections of the adult relationships. Obviously in after yeas I came to understand them better, but it means I've been a fan for a good eight or nine years, on and off.

Ben RE: How long have you been a Spooks fan and how did it happen
I started watching the show knowing nothing about it at all. A friend of mine at a video store told me I should watch it and I did. Honestly the first episode made me want to watch the next one just to see what happened. The second episode outraged me which I am pretty sure most know why for obvious reasons but it also made me a fan. I was drawn into the harsh reality of the show, the life and death gamble the characters were placed in.

I really do love the show and I was upset when I heard it was ending. I would add, though it probably doesn't matter much, am an American. I think that also played into why I love the show. I really enjoy the perspective of how the Americans are viewed in this show. I think that it may be over done a bit for story plot but at the same time I see it as accurate.

I think one of the things that keeps me interested is the spycraft used in the show, it's real and accurate from what I have gathered from reading and that realism makes the already stellar writing and character development.

I am a life long fan and can only wait till another show comes out to rival what it has done to revolutionize the intelligence show genre. The only show I think comes close to accuracy in regards to spycraft is Burn Notice and Covert Affairs.

I think many American shows would be better suited to have the often cavalier attitude the writers have towards characters in the show, the constant recycling of characters has kept the show new and fresh every season. Even though it has left me often so angry I would declare that I would never watch another episode, my desire to see what happened in the wake would cause me to log in to watch another episode.

Ruth RE: How long have you been a Spooks fan and how did it happen
First caught the show on my local PBS station in 2005 (I think.) A spy drama set in London? Two of my favorite things. PBS was sporadic and I was finally able to get ahold of series 1, 2, and the first 1/2 of series 3 through the library system. I thought about buying it on DVD but at the time the 1st series was $60+ and I couldn't justify the expense.

Fast forward a few years and I started watching all over again as my library finally purchased copies for themselves. After watching series 9 early this summer, my addiction to Spooks went into full gear. Thanks to info I found on this site I was able to watch series 10 online as I would never have been able to avoid spoilers until such a time I could have watched the DVDs on this side of the pond. I haven't bought any of the series yet on DVD, but am debating whether to buy the Region 1 versions or to pickup the Region 2 versions along with a region-free DVD player. Either way I need a job first. Smile

I've started watching other shows that Spooks actors have done. I've enjoyed HN in both Cold Feet and Wire in the Blood and NW in Touching Evil.

Ros: "This is the something."
