Yeah! That pine tree sounds amazing, Silktie!! When I was a child, I used to spend Christmas with my mother's parents in a small village; we had a real pine tree and we decorated it with colourful balls like the traditional ones, but I loved it. Now we have the plastic one Sad

This year I'm living in a different city so I'm very happy I could make it to spend Christmas with my family. It's always me who puts the tree up so it won't be there when I arrive. I know I won't spend Christmas in the flat I'm living now but I want to put some lights up, I love them!!! Smile

In watching the Season Greetings cast interview, I got to wondering what kind of music you have on loop (Phil Spector anyone?) during the holidays?

Our favorites are Brian Setzer Orchestra "Boogie Woogie Christmas," Straight No Chaser "Holiday Spirits" and The Vince Guaraldi Trio "A Charlie Brown Christmas," Benjamin Brittens' "A Ceremony of Carols" and Quincy Jones' take on Handel's "Messiah A Soulful Celebration." There are others.

Curious about the Quincy Jones version of Handel!!

We just let the radio play, the radiostation we're listening to, are doing a benefit action to support the red cross financialy, listeners can deposit money to request their favorite song. The action takes place from the 18th til the 24th, 24h a day and the radiopresenters are locked op in a glass house with no food, just shakes, during that time. Mostly the music the listeners request is very christmasy or it bears a special meaning to them and there is a special feeling to listen to all those beautiful songs, knowing you are supporting a good cause! ( hoping I will get to hear my requested song!)

I always have the Kings College Cambridge Boys Choir's double CD of Christmas carols on a loop. Such a fantastic choir, their harmonies are just wonderful.

I'm very disappointed that we here in the boondocks no longer get the BBC's broadcast of the midnight mass held in Kings College cathedral on Christmas Eve. We used to get it until about three years ago, and it was wonderful. Every year I scour the BBC Africa's broadcast schedule, but alas, in vain.

The ABC put out a couple of FANTASTIC Christmas records 9 and 10 years ago, one was called 'Bright Morning', I think, and the other 'Perfect Day'. The morning ABC Classic FM DJ (who was a great guy) put them together and the recordings were superb. My sister and I are actually on one of them but we didn't even realise that for about a month after we bought them for our parents! I'm sure they're still available for anyone who wants to get them.

I love that broadcast too, Silktie. We usually get it on the station of which I just spoke.

The version of Brittens A Ceremony of Carols that I have has the Kings College Cambridge Boys Choir on it. Love it! My father was a Mormon Tabernacle Choir nut at the Holidays.

Another album I have in the CD player on shuffle during the Holidays is Barenaked Ladies Barenaked Christmas.

My parents always played a cassette tape of Christmas Carol's from the choir at Guildford Catherdral on Christmas morning, when we were opening out presents. My sister and I still make them play the old tape when we meet up over Christmas. If I make it to the family reunion this weekend, then it will be played then as well.

We aren't very traditional in our family regarding music... haha we don't sing Christmas carols, nor put a cd with Christmas-ish music... When I was a kid I used to hit with all my energy my tambourine (pandereta in Spanish) and get everybody to sing some carol... but I wasn't lucky... My family is very boring Dodgy
