Harry is in front of the investigation panel when Lucas walks-in to prove that the whole Albany file thing was a test by Human Resources to prove that Harry was a 'People Person' and protective towards his staff (a bit like the EERIE episode). Harry obviously passed the test and everyone goes back to work as normal.

I don't really see how that can happen, because in S9 we saw the whole thing from Lucas' perspective. We know what he did and why he did it. At least three people - Maya, Vaughn and the running man - have died because of his actions. Ruth would really have died if Harry hadn't given up the file. If S9 had been mostly from Harry's POV, maybe they could have twisted it like that and it might have worked. As it is, I think we need to accept that the things we saw Lucas do were real and not part of a test for Harry. (Unless we go with the idea that they really, really messed with Lucas and allowed a lot of people to die just to be sure Harry is trustworthy.)

Hi, just registered, first post.

I think Harry and his past should go under the microscope for the first episode at least but to spice things up he's still in charge during the initial steps of the enquiry and is approached by a couple of old colleagues from the past in the form of....Tom Quinn and Zoe Reynolds.

After leaving the service, getting back together with Christine Dale and setting up a private security company (Spooks: Harry's Diary) Tom sought out Zoe when she was shipped off to Chile and have been working together ever since.

They stumbled onto a fringe Nightingale plot to destabilise european economies through coordinated attacks using tirisius sleepers whose activiation codes had been acquired/hijacked by the conspirators.

They work closely with Section D to foil the plots and expose Nightingale, whilst also trying to deal with the Lucas legacy. Tom is back on form, Christine brings access to unconventional CIA assets and Zoe butt heads with Beth Bailey.

When the dust settles, Harry is thrown to the dogs by a union of old political and professional enemies trying to once an for all bring down their nemesis, Tom & Co stay on to help the old warrior.

Thats got to be worth 2-3 episodes, don't you think?

I'd like to see a story linked to the fall of the Middle East regimes. What if Saudi Arabia looked as though it was going to be overthrown by the people, bringing instability to one of the biggest oil producers in the world, or if the new order in Egypt turns out to be worse than what was there before and causes the closure of the Suez Canal. I realise that MI5's job doesn't involve foreign regimes, but think of the domestic unrest if there is a massive shortage of oil, or if all the products made in China have to be shipped all the way around Africa.

The story could involve Beth or Dimitri going undercover in a group trying to cause anarchy in the UK. I miss the episodes we used to have when Zoe or Danny would go under cover while spying. You got to see them working under pressure and there used to be real tension. Tariq and Ruth could do what Colin and Malcolm used to do, listening in to conversations and monitoring hidden cameras, and analysing.

Its not high octane action but good quality, well acted drama.

I've also been thinking about ways they can incorporate Middle East developments. Another option is to have activists from one of these countries where the govt is clamping down on demonstrators (i.e. Libya or Yemen) running internet campaigns for regime change from the UK. Those countries' govts can then send kill squads after the activists in the UK, and disguise these efforts behind terror attacks or something. Harry and co must figure out what the real deal is and foil the kill squads. To do this we can also have either Beth or Dimitri undercover with the activists.
