I loved Harry's one liners and humour. I'm missing that side of him.

I wonder if Harry quietly accepting his extradition to the US is his way of atoning for all he's done?
Or perhaps he's merely once again doing what's best for the realm - if he made trouble or disappeared it would strain relations between the US and UK even further. |

RE: [spoilers] Sir Harry Pearce - Return of the Jedi (#3)
During the whole scene between Ilya and Harry I kept thinking of that old Harry line about him doing his own dirty work.
Has Harry stopped doing his own dirty work? Is Ilya right? Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

I think Ilya grossly misinterprets and/or underestimates Harry in this scene. Harry does have love and he has always done his own dirty work. Does Ilya think that Harry still has feeling for Elena? Ruth did until he set her straight about it in 10.5. I love this scene. I love how Nalluri focus's the camera on Harry's reaction to Ilya's words. He also makes his last request in the best interest of the country and all the people involved. I find Tower's reaction to it interesting. Can't quite read him there. He could just say OK and not do it, but he does seem to take Harry's request to heart almost grudgingly. Now cracks a noble heart. Let's see now - he shot the Russian guy responsible for Adam's death, taking the gun from Ros. He strangled the guy in the subway (I forget why). He poisoned the last HS. (Towers beware) He took Jim Coaver. He met Lucas/John on the roof and refused backup. And most of all it he took it for the team with the barking mad model wife of the rock star Many more escape me right now. Ilya is wrong about what Harry has become. After the tortoise in the garden was said for the third time, I so wanted Harry to say something like "Yes, and I've got a big fat white elephant in the room." Agreed, he went quietly, a to atone for his actions, but I do agree he most likely had a plan B up his sleeve. Didn't he tell Ruth not to think of it as the end? |

LOL!! (*wiping tears of laughter from eyes...*) It was a very "theatrical" writing device to repeat that line three times. I've been thinking about why, although I can't seem to stop taking the mickey out of it, I really didn't mind it. The first time was an observation, the second time was an insult and the third time was a twist of the knife, maybe even a threat? Ooh! He pretty much did, didn't he? I took it at face value but maybe there is more to it, e.g. Doubting my judgement, Ruth? or Catch a hint, Ruth! Although, he has to get away from big, bad Americans first. Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet [Spooks]; And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest. ~Wm. Shakespeare, Hamlet |

RE: [spoilers] Sir Harry Pearce - Return of the Jedi (#3)
I actually took Ilya's comment about wanting to have the gun in his hand rather than delegating responsibility for killing someone as a direct threat from him to Harry. He was basically saying: If I want you dead, I'll do it myself, I won't send anyone.
Harry and Ilya has such an interesting dynamic that I'm kind of disappointed we didn't get more interaction between them up till now. How cool would it be if Harry does have something up his sleeve? I did wonder whether he had planted a bug/tracker on Elena when he hugged her like that, similar to the way that other guy planted one on Dimitri when he hugged him back in episode 3. Perhaps he was following her around when Ruth called him after she got the laptop, and that narrowing of the eyes we saw him do after their conversation was because of something he saw Elena do rather than because of what Ruth was saying? |

I found it a bit odd that he did not stay to watch Ruth in the US embassy. Her last time alone in the field in S9, he was there with her each and every step of the way. Didn't he say he had a few thoughts to follow up on? What thoughts? What was he doing? And why? As you imply above, what was he doing when Ruth called to tell him she had it? I just made the leap to him going home because he knew he was going to ask her to bring it to him there rather than the grid, but maybe there was more to it? So many questions. I am not really inclined to speculate this series, so at the moment, they are pretty rhetorical for me but certainly intriguing. Now cracks a noble heart. Loladom I don't disagree. I was merely offering a question to which I hoped I would get an impassioned answer. And I did.
Harry does seem to be having rather a Tom like falling apart in some ways. He is still operationally sound but is 'this thing leaving [him]?' Quite possibly. Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |
