Yes, Benedict *coughs* Cumberbatch is in it too.

I don't think Peter's part is very large but he's supposed to be very good in it.

PF is really good in Hawking. One of his better character turns, IMO. Small but pivotal. He's really intense. There is a great little scene is a stairwell. I felt a little bit sorry for his character. PF plays Sir Fred Hoyle who's theory of the creation of the universe was the main rival to the big bang theory. Ironically, Sir Fred Doyle is the man who coined the phrase "The Big Bang" on a radio programme where he was explaining both theories. If memory serves, Hawking has him using it as a pejorative, but he actually used it to help the listeners.

This is really bizarre, I've just driven down "Sir Fred Hoyle Way" tonight which is a road bypass on the outskirts of Bradford (PF's home town). I've driven down this road hundreds of times and never noticed this road name before tonight. As I passed the sign I knew this was the scientist that PF played in Hawking and thought the road should have been named "Peter Firth Way" instead!!

How strange that on checking the forum tonight, this is the program that everyone is talking about ! Spooky forces at work here !!

I'll try to check it out online. Interestingly, the review on IMBD is really scathing of PF, singling him out for direct criticism. I suspect the writer may well have been more angry at the portrayal of Sir Fred in the movie rather than PF's abilities as he claims to know Sir Fred personally. Perhaps the poster doesn't feel it's a fair representation of him, which would be the writer's fault rather than PF. I thought the critique rather harsh and I'm glad to see your opinion is opposite A Cousin. When a few people here have seen this showing next week, perhaps people could comment on this guy's criticism?
