Given that Harry is facing an inquiry (that we know from S9) and the press announcements about Harry's secret hidden in his past, it needs to be someone who knows things about him. In my opinion, that rules out Tom and Zoe. They're not far enough/deep enough from his past.

SO I'll go for :

Mace getting out of prison seeking revenge - he knew H from way back.
Tessa - who seemed to know more about N.Ireland etc. and all they knew of each other back in the day
or Juliet - she met H in Europe around the time of Omega and she disappeared after Yalta exploded
All 3 would have an axe to grind with Harry and would know far far more than Tom or certainly Zoe ever could.

Furthermore, Keeley and Peter were overheard in late January talking about how they could get Zoe back in. I'm assuming the script outlines and casting decisions would've been decided by then given they slow contracting pace of the BBC and shooting beginning in March?

I'm leaning towards Zoe or Tom. Yes I like them both (love Zoe and I really like Keeley ), but they're two of the few people still alive and they've spent years with Harry. It may be Malcolm too.

I can see Mace coming back. I'm not sure if that is the best idea though since they already did several seasons with Mace being a pest/thorn. However, this is Spooks and they can come up with good storylines. Juliet is also a good choice too...her storyline was never finished. Not sure about Tessa, but she's possible as well. Argh! Too many possibles. I can't wait!

i do think tom or zoe, remember tom started around the same time lucas went away, remember s7 when lucas asked harry how Tom Quinn turned out.

if it is keeley or matthew thats a big thing for spooks but also would be nice if it is the last series

Not so sure Spooks would have the budget for either of the above two popular choices, given how many other new characters are joining. That theory also puts to bed another person I thought of

So I'll stick to my above ideas of Mace, Juliet or Tessa even though the Jenny A is/was a big name, she hasn't been in anything for ages that I recall (please correct me) so maybe she just wants to do something?

Alternatively, a more educated guess is now pointing towards Malcolm. He of course knew Harry so well and perhaps may arrive to defend him in his hour of need. Right, I've talked myself into Malcolm. Can the summer go quick enough

I'd love for it to be Zoe or Tom. I'm inclining more towards Tom though, for some reason. But I'd also love to see Mace back, just because he was such a brilliant baddie.
