RE: Series 10 - Episode 2 Discussion
I was only thinking that if Sasha had kept the body, he could use it to get Harry out of the way and protect his mother. The FSB officer could turn up in Harry's airing cupboard. I saw it happen in an episode of Inspector Morse once.
(I know I need to watch the episode again ) |

I've just re-watched it myself, and I can't decide if the body is in the boot or not. I also can't work out why Sasha has left the stuff in the car and walked away. Wouldn't it be better to dump the stuff in the Thames? Very worrying!!

RE: Series 10 - Episode 2 Discussion
I don't understand why so many people think Ruth might be a traitor or an evil villain. She's clearly looking into Harry's file because she knows there is more to Harry that he is telling her; though what she could find in a file when there's so much that clearly only Harry would know (30 years of hiding the fact he had an affair with the wife of an FSB officer) I'd say he'd be unlikely to put that in any of his reports.
Still, Ruth is pretty damn good with data so she'll probably make some good connections. And after all, Harry did that to her in Ep 10 of S5, so its tit for tat, and a bit of 'you're not exactly helping me out here so I'll help myself and then I can actually work this mess out' - not betrayal. I didn't like it when she asked him for more info and all he said was - 'I've got faith in you Ruth.' Felt very abrupt and frankly, very Harry. No wonder why she told him off, jeesh I'd be so fed up with him by now myself. When she does find out an intriguing connection, leading most likely to a suspect, she'll have to admit about looking into Harry's file, and that scene should be interesting... She has a right to do that though, I feel. Also, thought the silhouette was Elena, but at the same time seems too obvious an answer. Elena seems too in awe and perhaps in love with Harry (I mean that in the 'memories of the good old days' sense not, I want to start a relationship with you again - I mean she's obviously sensible) and I reckon even though he burned her, she is after all the wife of a spy, not some naive innocent -she would recognize the necessity of such a move in 80's Russia; though I'm sure she would've felt very hurt by the whole thing - the idea of never seeing your lover again and the father of your child: Ouch. Wasn't that affected by Tariq dying, but yes was sad. Wished, like someone else said, he'd borrowed the taxi drivers phone and called Harry. Hopefully some more R/H moments next episode and I hope more Sacha Harry moments. Would love a dramatic reveal of Harry and Elena telling him that he is their son....^_^ It was the wind Ruth... |

I am totally with you. I do not understand why Harry treated Ruth so brusquely before and after the meeting with Elena. Ruth was afraid for Harry's life since Sasha threatened him with a gun! You cannot brush such a threat under the carpet. She had the right to know about the professional side of the meeting between Harry and Elena so that she would have some clues about the impersonator. As usual, Harry did not respect Ruth's brilliance and intuition. He ought to know better after Cotterdam and Lucas's debacle for ex. It is going to catch up with him very soon. So far in series 10 Harry has not been portrayed in a very positive light. Over the years we have accepted Harry's maverick methods because he was so committed to protect the realm at any cost. In episodes 1 and 2 he appeared more intent in saving his own reputation. This might change Series 10 Spoiler: show Let's hope that the next episodes will again highlight Harry's dedication to Britain and absolve him. |

This might change Hmm, I thought the impersonator was already threatening Britain's intentions to pally up with Russia, and not just Harry's reputation. Someone else, pretending to be Harry, used Elena to find out exactly what Britain/Russia are planning to do regarding their spanking new cooperation agreement. That is certainly more of a threat to Britain's interests than Harry's reputation. |

Why....
is the photo on Harry's personnel file so recent? Surely it would be taken when he was recruited. is Erin still wearing those stupid heels? I can't take her seriously. She looks too young and too soft and has none of the gravitas of Adam, Ros or Lucas. As for being Harry's temp replacement, it's too far-fetched. did Tariq type so much? I've never seen anyone use a mouse as little as him. Most computer functions use a mouse ... he's not typing anything on to a screen but seems to be operating his computer with the keyboard....? |

re: Victor Elliott who seems surprised that Harry doesn't know that his operation in Iraq was clean and all his contracts were taken over by a company advised by the husband of a "very charming lady who happens to be very senior in the British intelligence community."
Is this a red herring from KUDOs, a lie by Victor Elliot, a convenient explanation contained to the episode or a legitimate piece of the over-all S10 puzzle? Even Harry says he is sure every word of it is true and that they should keep it for a rainy day. If legitimate, who could this woman be? If it was Elena that Tariq saw on the CCTV, how does she fit in as the "anonymous benefactor"? Esp. since the theft of the case was considered a direct attack on MI-5. One to ponder...? Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet [Spooks]; And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest. ~Wm. Shakespeare, Hamlet |
