RE: Series 10 - Episode 3 Discussion
OMG, we're halfway through the Series already.

That's m'boy Dmitri. The highlight of tonight's episode was all the leading action he got! No hair on his chest!!

However, to be honest as a Spooks episode I thought tonight was rather slow. Don't know what is going on with Calum but whenever Harry asked him could he handle looking into Tariq's death as well as the current crisis there was a look that passed between them similar to the one between Harry and Connie when Harry "apologised" for questioning her loyalty.

The fact that a lot would seem to be revealed at the end of this episode with still three to go would suggest that it could not be so straightforward but then the same happened with Lucas last year so maybe we're going down the same route.

Not a patch on lat week's episode.

Yeh, not my favourite episode ever. Too slow and Dimitri believing the story at the end was a little silly. Did he suddenly forget all his training? Letting Johnny leave like that, geeez!

Not enough of Harry, Ruth, Towers, or Erin this episode. Too much focus placed on the bad guys like episode 8.3.

Loved The National Gallery scene and the Sasha and Harry scene.

As for the Ruth/Towers dinner, wasn't Ruth a little hypocritical? She wasn't exactly completely honest with the Home Secretary. She's making a moral judgement about Harrys personal life. She seems to be fixing the moral compass in her own direction when it comes to Harry this series. Is she forgetting the huge secret she kept from George? Shouldn't have Ruth been sick of secrets at the end of 8.1 and not 10.3?

For once I want more of the story arc and less of the threat of the week.

Loved the scene with Ruth and Towers, her line "Me and Harry will always be important to each other" Awww, and Elena's meeting with Ruth, she knews straight away Harry loves Ruth Smile I think Elena is a clever woman, I'm still not sure if she's a threat or if she's actually innocent.
I don't believe Coaver id behind the impersonator either... it's too obvious Smile

As for Episode 4's trailer...

TL... you're signature is making me... erm uneasy Tongue

Series S10 Spoiler: show
ell To me it looks as though Elena's run straight into Harry, Ruth's seen it and misunderstood what's going on. Harry looks shocked and not as though he really wants to be holding Elena at all, but has no choice but to comfort her. This could influence Ruth's decision about the Home Secs offer to work for him. Ruth saying " Do you know what it's like to feeling something for someone and then to one day realise you don't even know them" Poor Ruth, she sounds heartbroken... but I think she's misunderstood completely... since Elena has already talked to her about Harry. hmmm

RE: Series 10 - Episode 3 Discussion
Okay: time may prove me wrong, and unfair, but Harry suffered somewhat in my estimation with the instruction to Ruth to lay out the situation with Elena on his behalf. It annoyed me because it had him treat Ruth like some sort of messenger or - worse - apologist and emotional launderer, and because it suggested for Harry a sense of dismissiveness about the right of his team to know what has rapidly become pertinent information. I have no problem with Harry denying truths, or lying about truths: that's his job, and there are security considerations in everything he says and doesn't say and in every context in which he says or doesn't say it. But he did a much more impressive job of owning his denial of Sugarhorse, and his subsequent revelations about it and its significance, than he did in doing the same in respect of Elena. Of course, there is a difference between professional and personal ownership or admission of events, but I actually did say the word "coward" out loud when he fobbed off the background of his relationship with Elena onto Ruth. It looked to me as though Ruth wasn't entirely impressed with that piece of delegation either.

Possibly, this should be in the Harry thread. If so, let me know and I'll move it. Or get Ruth to do it for me! Angel Silba

RE: Series 10 - Episode 3 Discussion
After that all I can say is Dimitri needs retraining and Ruth needs to get out more, preferably with William. If that was the episode that had Kudos deciding to call it a day I'm not surprised. A silly storyline, ridiculous outcome interspersed with wooden acting. I agree with those that felt it got in the way of the Russia/Harry story which at least offered an occasional bright spark in an otherwise gloomy episode.

RE: Series 10 - Episode 3 Discussion
It was a slow episode. But I did enjoy the revelations at the end.

I say the UK is being caught in the middle of a power play by the certain members of the Russian who want revenge on the UK and break the US and UK alliance.

I suspect in the end the Russians and UK deal will go through and the US will be force to swallow there pride and maintain the same relationship with the UK, probably via Harry threatening them to expose the deep routed corruption with in the CIA or some other bribery. Evidence of them working with the Chinese and the Russians against the US national interests would cause untold damage to the CIA and the US intelligence community.

Elena and Coaver I suspect are playing along with this plan of the Russians to try and play it to there advantage.

I would love this season to end where we see, and the group who wanted to destroy US spying capabilities and Nightingale this being revealed as there ultimate plan, an unofficial Alliance between UK, US and Russia, with the UK acting as the glue between the two. This to me seem the most likely outcome of this season.

RE: Series 10 - Episode 3 Discussion
I know others have criticized the episode but for me, WOW, story lines that don't simply end after 60 minutes but flow from one story into the next are the reason I love this show so much.
Ruth looks like a woman who isn't too happy with the lot in life that she's found herself with. I'm also not too sure about the Home Secretary, I don't think I trust him too much...

Loving the show again!

I love the episode it's was like a good old Spooks !

But it's not that I don't like sensible Dimitri, but I prefered him when he is disarming bombs rather then when he is about to cry.

I am loving Calum more and more. I really looks like the only one who really care for Tariq .

Sasha is driving me insane ! He is acting such like a mommy boy ! He is FSB he shouldn't be allowed to cry.

Rough episode for Ruth. First the meeting with Harry « family » and the dinner with the HS . Is it just me or that men is a total idiot ! His phone call was soo lame.

I just have a last tought, have anybody notice that Erin changes clothes all the time but that the other character are always wearing the same thing especially Calum.

Harry RE: Series 10 - Episode 3 Discussion
I warmed up a lot more to Calum after tonight's ep. I was glad to see him willing to continue looking into Tariq's death. I also liked seeing Dimitri front and center, even if it wasn't for a very strong plot.

I know the cast has said that their budget was limited for this season, but does this mean that Ruth is only allowed 3 outfits and all must be black or navy? Or is it intentional as a contrast to Elena?

I did like seeing her dinner with Towers. I liked that she acknowledged that she and Harry would always be important to each other - pretty open for her - and that Towers told her to stop looking at her shoes! I do agree with whomever said that Ruth probably should have been sick of secrets after 8.1, but I'm taking it as a sign of things to come. Loved the meeting between Ruth and Elena and Ruth's "I don't know how to answer that and why would I want to" comment. Elena shows that she can still be formidable.

Harry was a mixed bag - atleast he acknowledged to Ruth the difficulty (for her and him) in asking her to meet w/ Elena but he was a putz in dumping on Ruth to tell the team about the Gavrik/CIA connection. I did feel a little bad for him when he went to meet Sasha, his way of saying good-bye to his son, although we all know that's not going to be the last time they meet.

I'm sad that there are only 3 eps left but am so glad that I'm not having to wait for the DVDs. Seriously may have killed me to wait.

Series 10 Spoiler: show
Next week looks to have the pivotal scene between Harry/Elena/Ruth that will probably cause me to have serious anxiety.

Zaf: "Shouldn't you be in prison or something?"
Ros: "This is the something."

RE: Series 10 - Episode 3 Discussion
Not entirely sure how I feel about this week overall, but I thoroughly enjoyed Dimitri's scenes. Wink Calum's growing on me, too, especially with his tireless search for the killer. Also loved Ruth's bits - the meeting with Elena was brilliantly done, and the dinner with Towers was fantastic. As everyone's pointing out, her admitting that she and Harry will always be important to each other was gorgeous.

I've been caught up in the painting during the Elena/Ruth scene, though. I knew it looked familiar, so I checked up on it - "The Execution of Lady Jane Grey" by Paul Delaroche.
Series 10 Spoiler: show
I'm still not sure that it will play a large role later on, but the fact that Jane was an intelligent woman who was a victim of politics makes me nervous for poor Ruth. Of course, maybe they just wanted a beautiful painting in the background... Smile
Makes me so excited (and nervous) for next week, though!
