Not sure if this is the right place for this question, but......Does anyone know why the DVD of series 7 is not out until 12 October?

What I don't get about Spooks, Hustle and New Tricks previous series DVD releases just before the new series airs is if you've missed the series originally then you're not going to buy the DVDs just as the new series starts or if you do you're not going to watch the new series. I hadn't watched series 5 of New Tricks so I didn't watch series 6. Series 5 is now being shown again but I wasn't one of the statistics watching series 6 so unless series 6 is aired again before series 7 (assuming there is one) then the BBC are going to lose me again.

But Ashes to Ashes and Torchwood DVDs are released almost immediately Rolleyes

That's a good point - it is quite irritating. Watching a series isn't the same if you miss out the one before it. I only watched Spooks during series 7, but my mum only had the boxset of series 1 so I watched that and it was quite surreal as events such as Adam's death and Jo's rape were shown, and I didn't really understand the whole story behind it from not watching the other episodes. Added to that that there is minimal character overlap between series 1 and 7, and it sort of felt like two different tv shows, so quite bizarre.

Same! I've never had to wait for a Spooks series, I only started watching last series. It seems like ages ago!
