RE: Who will be killed?
I see no reason why they should stop the show. We don't know for absolutely sure that anyone else is leaving. Kudos have said that they will make more series as long as the show pulls in good ratings. The start so far has been good.
To point out the obvious, we still have: Harry, Ros, Lucas, Ruth and Tariq. Say we lose one of them between now and the end of the series. Fine. That leaves four. We'd only need two more cast additions, field officers, to make six which I think is the ideal number for the Grid team, at the start of Series 9. It is publicly known there is a cliffhanger in 8.8. Which means it has been left open to easily go either way; and on this basis I don't think a decision has been made on Series 9 yet. "They're awfully tenacious, bless them. I think they want to give me a polonium suppository." - Ros, 7.1 |

RE: Who will be killed?
I agree with LucasNorth#1. I think they're leaving themselves in a situation where if the BBC decides to pull the plug, there is closure, but if not, they're ready for series 9.
There is no reason they need to end the show. Look at Law & Order in the US, it's been on for over 20 years plus multiple spin off series. They've mastered the replaceable cast game. Always love your country, but never trust your government. |

They've mastered the replaceable cast game. That's true but the formula is slightly different. Do you think Spooks could start a Series 9 with potentially only Lucas as the holdover field agent? Wouldn't they have to introduce some new agents in S8? "What is the truth?" "Betrayal is a cancer. Let it eat your soul, not mine." "Please tell me this isn't going where I think it's going." |

RE: Who will be killed?
I agree that Kudos will want to protect the jewel in its crown that is Spooks by not overselling it. Much as they did with Life on Mars.
I am also wondering where you read that thing about the confirmed cliffhanger, Nitrus. I've been searching for it for a damn month! Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |
