Yeah, good to know people appreciate his art but I tend to prefer his earlier, funnier films. Although Bullets over Broadway was really good, as was Sweet and Lowdown. Love and Death, however, is brilliant! Silktie I love black humour. Have you seen the little-known Irish film Intermission? Great performances by Colm Meaney and Colin Farrell. And speaking of black humour, I mentioned a film in a previous post but I don't think anyone's referred to it - Man Bites Dog. Blacker that black humour. So dark it's somehow not right.... Other good films: A Room for Romeo Brass In Bruges Dog Soldiers 28 Days (and Weeks) Later Ghost Dog |

No I haven't, I'll try and find it over here. Forgot about In Bruges, that was brilliant!
I'll check out the others you mentioned too, haven't seen them. |

RE: Favourite films?
Be warned with Man Bites Dog; to say it's black humour doesn't come close...in fact I had to turn it off in the end, so dark was its humour. So maybe that's not a great plus for the film.
A Room for Romeo Brass is an early Shane Meadows film. Great performance from Paddy Considine. Both of them worked together on Dead Man's Shoes too, which is staggeringly good, but rather tragic. Another wonderful performance from Considine can be seen in My Summer of Love, which I did not expect to enjoy. Another good British film is London to Brighton - look out for Jason Belling! |

RE: Favourite films?
I've watched Ghost Dog a few times. I've even read the Haggakure because of it and most of Musashi's Five Rings. Still haven't gotten around to reading Rashomon yet.
It was also one of the things that let me to watch the Zatoichi movies, since they're an influence on the films. Always love your country, but never trust your government. |
