It was quite clever, I liked it because at some points, for me, it really did seem like at the end they were going to announce that he was a wizard or something like that, but instead they had a logical and reasonable explanation for it.

almh, did you expect any less from a Holmes flick? I'm not a Doyle purist by any means, but I felt like Robert Downey, Jr.'s Holmes was more in line with the novels than most of the other "classic" Holmes films.

I also thought Jude Law made an interesting Watson. I always pictured him as older than Holmes and a bit heavier.

There were a few times I kept expecting Hugh Laurie to be Holmes and Robert Sean Leonard to be Watson. It was a bit weird for me. It seemed to me that Guy Ritchie had House playing in the background while working on the film.

Now I have 2 reasons to watch Holmes: Freemasons Hall in it and watch Jude Law and Rober Downey Jr Smile

House was said to be inspired by Holmes, and Wilson by Watson... Perhaps he wanted to give the other way round impresion (if I can say that...)

I've never read or seen any Holmes before, as far as I remember.

I had no other possibility) in 3D, and I totally agree with you, Silktie. The plot's not very good, too predictable, and I don't know in English, but in Spanish the dialogues wasn't good either, I laughed at some moments because of the weird lines... too poor.

One of my friends said: "it's like Pocahontas but in other planet", and he was so right!

Although all the down sides, it is worth watching it, the visual effects are amazing.

Go and see 'In The Loop' right NOW. So freaking good. Peter Capaldi is fantastic, it never fails to amaze me how deft he is at playing both comedy and drama. The film has a lot of language but if that doesn't faze you and you love a political parody, get thee to a cinema immediately!

He'e also due out in that film shown at Sundance with Kristen Stewart as a stripper.
