I like it
DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered. |

RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth
Same here.
Personally i think that the show really needs a hopeful/successful relationship in it otherwise we all get bored at the repetitive "How's this one going to go to pot?" question. Besides H/R is one of the most successful couples because of it's overall subtlety compared with others. I also doubt the writers would be so stupid as to destroy it after it's long run and massive fanbase. Codename Kirayuki: Vid Maker. H/R & Ruth fan. |

RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth
Paradoxically, I think it's a good thing for their relationship that the show is probably nearing the end of its run. If they had to make it work for four or five years, I could see that becoming a problem. As it is, they can show them starting a relationship next year, and if the show is renewed for a tenth season, show the challenges the relationship faces in such a high-pressure environment.

RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth
Plus I think there's something to be said for showing couples working things out. Some of my favourite couples on television are the ones where you see the progression of a relationship, not just "will they or won't they?". Ultimately, these are two good people who love each other and will want to make it work, and that's a good start.

RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth
That's a good point. Most TV shows end with the couple getting together, and don't bother to show the hard work it takes to make a relationship work. With all the baggage that Harry and Ruth will respectively bring to the relationship, there is rich ground for exploring how they overcome these things to have a successful relationship.

RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth
I think to have them trying to have a normal relationship would be a great B storyline. Then trying to keep it going while working together. There is scope for many a comedy moment. (my parents have arrived now so cant finish this !!!!!.)

RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth
I'm not very optimistic about it... but kudos can make a difference... I'd love to see them trying to have a relationship with their insecurities and it would be fun to see them in the Grid pretending

RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth
I think it would be interesting to see them start a relationship, and everyone else on the Grid tactfully pretending that they didn't know. I think there is an element of that already - there are some moments when, as someone once put it (but not on this forum), the temperature where they are is several degrees higher than the rest of the Grid, and everyone else on the Grid tactfully ignores.
Thinking back about it, it seemed that the person who got the most unwanted attention was Ruth in series 5, the person who can't stand being talked about, and she heard people talking about it more than Harry ever would because he was above them, so they would have kept quiet around him. Maybe if their positions had been changed, and Harry heard the rumours more than Ruth did, then maybe they would have gone on their second date. Ruth definitely had more insecurities in series 5 than Harry, and she heard the gossip about her more than Harry did, so it's no wonder she called it off, and that Harry never really understood why. Sorry, rambling there (and hopefully it makes sense,) but that thought sprung to mind when you said about pretending, and I was thinking about how they didn't pretend before... RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth
I think that the situation now is different to that in series 5. Basically because there is no one there now that really cares about a R/H relationship. Lucas gives the impression of being indifferent to most things especially to do with Harry in my opinion. Ros never cared about R/H and was never really interested in their relationship (only to get revenge on Harry.) Tariq is new and so laid back that he probably hasnt noticed anything anyway.
That has given R/H some freedoms they didnt enjoy before. In series 5 you had the gossiping Jo, Adam, and Malcolm and the mischievous Zaf. In series 9 it will be interesting to see if new staff are brought in, and how this may effect the R/H relationship/interaction on the Grid. |

RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth
I always think Malcolm really regretted stressing Ruth out about that. He was genuinely trying to be supportive and kind and stuck his foot in it. And truthfully, I don't think any of them meant harm. I always thought Ruth kind of overplayed that whole incident, she used it as an excuse for why they couldn't be together. Very sad.
