I'll spare you the trouble, JHyde. Here's the scene that was cut from 2.2 as written in the script:

INT. THAMES HOUSE. MEETING ROOM - DAY 8. 0800
HARRY, RUTH, SAM.
The table is covered with a big plan of Birmingham City Centre. Mugs of coffee. They are very tense.
HARRY
The raid will start... thirty minutes from now.
RUTH
I’ve been looking forward to action in this job, goody.
HARRY turns on her.
HARRY
‘Goody?’ What’s ‘goody’ about it? You’ve been at GCHQ too long. This job isn’t all about sneaking on people with microphones and CCTV cameras - then sending others in to do the dirty work!
A nasty little silence.
There are tears in Ruth’s eyes.
RUTH
I meant...
HARRY
Did you.
Very frosty between them.
HARRY (cont’d)
Apology.
RUTH
Accepted.
HARRY (Looks at his watch.)
Twenty-nine minutes.

I'm beginning to realise that I might not want Harry & Ruth to be together...

That might be because I seem to always go against the populus in life, but I think really it's because I don't want Spooks to have a happy ending. It's not that sort of show.

I like shows/films which have tragic endings, simply because it goes against the norm.

So if Harry & Ruth got together, it would ruin what Spooks does best... which is ruin lives. lol.

Nitrus!!! Are you doing that just to spite us all on here? Haven't you had enough of the unhappy endings of Danny/Zoe, Adam/Fiona, Adam/Anna, Adam/Ros, Zaf/Jo, Sam/Danny, to name just a few! The thing about Harry and Ruth is that their lives have been destroyed - because of their job they have nothing! Allow us to be optimistic!!! [briefly pauses rant] Mah... Do I have permission to shout at you??? lol. Or am I suddenly going to get banned? I really hate the 10th rule, lol, just joking.

lol I get your point, I have more or less the same feeling about movies, I usually like films that end badly, I think it's because they have more impact and get people to think, they turn out to be more effective.

But sometimes it's good to see that life is not just bad things (*philosophic mood on*), and I think it would be good to have an ending different from the tendency of the show (now it's my romantic side talking); and you are right about "Spooks does best" but please not this time *begging*
And if it has to end badly for me the best ending is dying together, it would be very painful if one of them survived while not the other, and they both have suffered a lot!! It's not fair!!

lol but we have to admit that!!! lol We must be realistic with the Spooks tendency, BUT if they want to make a difference and shoot an ending different than expected they'll have to get HR together Wink

Someone said a similar thing on another forum - something about if Spooks want to surprise us with who dies that series then they should kill no one - totally unexpected. Sadly they're not doing too well on that front...

I'm not very confident about what I've said, my romantic side was talking, it's more what I wish than I expect, but anyway, I do hope they give Spooks the ending that it deserves, a brilliant one, no matter how they do it Wink

So back on topic! Harry&Ruth forever together (dead or alive Wink
