What music are you into?

RE: What music are you into?
Musicals, especially ones that I can sing along to. Actually that's a rule for most of the songs that I like. I don't tend to like artists, rather songs that they have performed. For example I wouldn't say that I was a fan of Alesha Dixon, but I do like some of her songs. The only exception is Avril Lavigne Smile

DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered.

I'm ashamed to say I love Alesha Dixon Blush

I hadn't heard of Nino Katamadze but that's the great thing about forums: being introduced to something new Smile

Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, The Scorpions, Deep Purple, Gary Moore, Queen. One of lifes regrets - not seeing Queen live. I've seen Brian May but to have seen Freddie I'm sure would have been unforgettable.

RE: What music are you into?
Hmm, I'll listen to anything really, ranging from rock, pop, jazz through to musicals and a bit of classical.

My absolute favourite decade for music, however, is definitely the 1960s. I only missed it by four years. Wink

RE: What music are you into?
I listen to almost everything, with the exception of musicals. I love classical music, particularly cello, trumpet and choral music. For the cello my favourite performer is Yo Yo Ma, for trumpet it is Wynton Marsalis and for choral music I love Kings College Cambridge choir performances. I actually got to listen to them perform in the Kings College cathedral once, which remains a highlight in my life.

My all-time favourite band is U2, although their stuff over the last few years is not really up to their once high standards. I also like Coldplay and Travis.

For harder rock I prefer Green Day, and I also like Within Temptaion.

Lastly, I love movie soundtracks, specifically those with dramatic orchestral music, as done by Hans Zimmer and a few others.

RE: What music are you into?
So, I've been avoiding this thread because I love music, and this thread would probably just becomes my own little soliloquy on the latest favourite album, but here is the track list for this year's mix CD titled Attic Language which I give to my nearest and dearest and a few new people I like to add every year. I don't repeat bands or artists (although side projects or solo acts are OK, so for instance I can have Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and Grinderman, which I have done in the past. I can't repeat acts - so for example Sarah Blasko is not on this year's CD because she's been on it before. They're basically the two big rules.)

(I am very serious about this project as you as you can tell.)

Glen Hansard and Marketa Iglova - Falling Slowly
Sia - Soon We'll Be Found
Bjork - Big Time Sensuality
The Hilltop Hoods - Chase That Feeling
The Pretenders - Kid
M.I.A. - Boyz
The Arcade Fire - Intervention
Gillian Welch - Everything Is Free
Florence + The Machine - Cosmic Love
The Presets - Yippiyo-ay
The Clash - Should I Stay Or Should I Go
Whitley - Head, First, Down
Phoenix - Lisztomania
The Polyphonic Spree - Light and Day/Reach For The Sun

My two favourite bands have already appeared on past years' CDs, being The Smiths and TV on the Radio. My favourite album this year was Dirty Projectors' Bitte Orce.

And I shamefacedly just broke my almost twelve month embargo on not buying concert tickets (I've been trying to save money this year) by buying a ticket to see the Dirty Projectors in March. Music is like water or oxygen for me, and I love live music. I'm already not going to see Florence + The Machine or Franz Ferdinand when they tour, so I'm sucking it up. I held out as long as I could.

Loooooove Sia. I've been a huge fan of hers for ages. She's from SA. This last album was wonderful and what I;ve heard of the new one it might be even better.

The Florence + The Machine album was one of my favourites this year and I wanted them to win the Mercury.
