What music are you into?

RE: What music are you into?
A Cousin, I have been hanging out for another Pretenders fan almost as much as I have been waiting for an Arrested Development fan! I LOVE The Pretenders and Chrissie Hynde's voice is one of my all time faves. 'Precious' and Ros would fit together wonderfully! I think Kid is my favourite song of theirs though, if I HAD to pick one.

I have a ticket to see Laura Marling in August!!! Arrrghhhhhh!!!!

Well, its double whammy for you: Arrested Development was one of our favorite shows. One of the few we'd ignore the children for a half hour for. Wink But I digress.

Now back on topic, last band I was in, we covered several Pretenders songs. It was perfectly in the range of the lead singer. Precious and Mystery Achievement are my favorites. I sadly am not familiar with Laura Marling. I will remedy that. Its been too long since I have seen anybody!

Ooh I love her too! I haven't been to a concert in way too long! I was hoping to go to a festival but was far too lax (and short of funds) to buy tickets Sad

I haven't seen F+TM yet either, but I know I will. Laura was the most reasonably priced and she was at a venue I adore in Sydney and I'm going with someone I really like so I am very excited.

livinglovingmad - the Jonsi album is stellar, you were absolutely right.

We went to see Eric Bibb in concert in London last Monday. He was absolutely superb - really high energy blues! The only disappointment was he didn't sing my favourite of his songs, Shine On. Otherwise, I highly recommend seeing him if he comes your way.

If you don't know his music, here's a vid from YouTube of EB singing "I heard the angels singing". Enjoy!

Old School Soul: Respect Yourself by The Staples Singers. Originally written as an anthem of empowerment for African Americans in the early 70's but resonates on many other levels too if only for the first verse:

If you disrespect anybody
That you run in to
How in the world do you think
Anybody's s'posed to respect you

If you don't respect yourself ain't nobody else is gonna give a big cahoot!
