No-one appears to have started a thread for Episode 2 viewing figures and I'm not sure whether it has to be a Moderator so in the meantime.

The figures for Episode 2 on BBC 1 were majorly disappointing and worrying at 4.5m - a bif drop from the opening.

We can hope that this was a one-off against Collision on ITV but how will it do against Celebrity on ITV in the next few weeks?

Does anyone know what the figures for Epi 2 on BBC3 last Friday were - it could be that a lot watched it in then instead of this Wednesday?

Obviously, you can't go on one week's figures and maybe I'm being too pessimistic but I have a sinking feeling in my stomach that with most actors not remaining in the series that long if say two of Lucas, Ros or Jo were to leave then the BBC might decide to end it. Certainly if the viewing figures don't go back up to over 5m I think cancellation is on the cards.

As the show is filmed well in advance of airing if the BBC did not commission another series then we wouldn't get a "proper" ending.

If my memory serves me right they usually announce there will be a further series during the current run or soon after it ends. Is this right?

They generally announce round about the 1st week of december - last year I think they told us on the 5th.

I've contacted the BBC about how they calculate ratings. I'm posing as someone from my work, and I reckon they'll respond. It just might take a week or two.

Frankly - I do think it's the last season. But not for ratings. 4.5m on BBC1 sounds pretty good, given that the BBC3 ratings were probably in excess of 1m.

I haven't been able to find any rsatings for the BBC3 episode. Hopefullu there may be some in next week's Broadcast.

Having now seen Episode 3 of Series 8 I have to reluctantly agree with you. This has the feel of a final Season.

At least we would get an "ending". I am getting vibes that the BBC has decided to quit while they are ahead and are scripting the plot accordingly.

Yep I'm back! I now have to seriously catch up on tv and sleep though (and homework, but that's a minor issue...) My parents have watched Spooks twice during the last three days and I've only watched one episode once! (I was trying to get to sleep Wink

so I was watching 8.2.) But they've seen 8.3 and I haven't!!! (My mum's seen it twice!) Seriously unfair.

Back to episode one ratings, at least if Spooks does end this series will have had amazing ratings and gone out on a high. But I'd personally rather it didn't.

Episode 3 held up on 2 posting a slight increase to 4.6m.

Given that it was up against Celebrity plus a big football match and a prior shwoing on BBC3 I think this not too bad but the big question is how the BBC would regard this as a constant?

They better! I really don't understand why they show it early on BBC3, it only brings down ratings for the 'proper' episode.

I'm still waiting to hear back from the Beeb about how ratings are calculated. The fact that they increased from episode 2 to 3 is promising.
