Bwah! Piracy could also refer to illegal copying and selling of goods, like DVDs and music. Maybe someone stole the new James Bond movie and our guys must hunt them down! Just picture Harry & Lucas going up against Daniel Craig...

I just addressed this over on Spookswatch. Piracy of music/software/DVDs and rip off designer goods are often cited as a form of revenue for terrorist cells on a local level. Maybe I hear more about it because of where I live, as they usually claim south east Asia as a stomping ground for these groups.

We might be about to see a season focusing on China or Indonesia, although the latter might be a bit odd for England. #

And guys, even if newspapers didn't run this article about every six months - google is your FRIEND!!

While rumour-ruminating, I found myself pondering the question of piracy. As in "illegal copies of Strike Back" or "...tanker off the coast of Somalia"...
in my book, the latter would probably yield more plot than the former... and if Lucas swaps his brawn for brain in series 9, the "har-har" pirate angle might allow for more action.. though how exactly is still a tad hazy..

I think JHyde might be on to something - DVD/music piracy IS often cited as a source of funds for terrorism. The South Asian connection fits - remember that Harry was meeting with an Oriental looking chap when I saw filming at Lambeth Bridge a few weeks ago... Somalian ship-based piracy wouldn't be a threat to our national security, but funding for terrorism would be.

Just thought of something after I pressed the 'post' button...DVD piracy angle is a great way for Kudos et al to push the message about illegal copying!
