RE: Episode 6 Discussion
(05-12-2009 01:08 PM)Silktie Wrote: Wow, cracking episode. The main thing for me this episode is that finally this season the team is really operating as a team. I found that somewhat lacking in previous episodes, but here every person on the Grid's strengths was used to get the operation done. There was much more of a balance in the use of all the characters than there had been in previous episodes. Absolutely. And we got a great conference room scene with Tariq and the group. Makes you see how much they all respect him that they crack lines at him. Quote:- We have enthusiastic, my-brain-is-too-fast-for-my-mouth Ruth back! I loved her this episode, she is getting some of her former verve back, as well as her empathy with the rest of the team members. I think after Jo died we have missed someone who acts as the heart of the team and who holds everyone together, but it seems as though Ruth is now moving back in that position, a role she also fulfilled before she had to leave in season 5. Oh, and we had her saying "there's something else" to Harry twice in this episode, lol! Homage to episode 3.4 when she says this to Harry and he yells: "Something else! That's your bloody middle name!" Even in a relatively minor role, Ruth came across terrifically in this ep. Every time she came up with "something else" she moved the plot along nicely and helped to set up future eps. And you've nailed it -- she is again the heart of the team. "What is the truth?" "Betrayal is a cancer. Let it eat your soul, not mine." "Please tell me this isn't going where I think it's going." |

RE: Episode 6 Discussion
You've struck gold Silktie. That was exactly what made this episode click, was the fact that the team were working together (mostly) for this episode. How great was it to see the rapport around the conference table? I've missed that so much. There was a nice balance between comedy and drama in this episode too - the balance that, when struck, makes the show magical. And I really felt it had that for the first time since 8.1. (I don't mean to imply that 8.1 was comedic, but more that the episode clicked.)
Seriously, those pink lips are starting to freak me out. They look like dolls' lips. (If you don't know what I mean, I posted earlier that the photography is different this season. Everyone suddenly has very, VERY pink lips.) Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

RE: Episode 6 Discussion
Yes, they all definitely worked together.
Having rewatched the ending again, I realised it wasn't suicide but her leaving - sorry! I was tired last night and thought I saw her body on the sofa, but obviously not... DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered. |

RE: Episode 6 Discussion
I loved this episode. A few people have mentioned Lucas being a bit stupid but you have to remember he loves Sarah and wanted to give her the opportunity to prove her innocence. I feel he doesn't know whether to trust her or Harry. I think he knows now. But she must love him too, otherwise she would have killed him without a second thought like she did Sam Walker.
Lucas 8.4: It's all about trust, isn't Harry ?. Signature by the brilliant TygerBright |

I hadn't noticed the lips but I had noticed the blueness of Rob Glenister's eyes...well I always notice of course.... but I'm not sure even in real life they're that blue....what do you reckon Penfold?? |

Yeah, I'm having a little bit of trouble with her not killing Lucas . . . that didn't come out quite right as I didn't actually want her to kill Lucas, but the whole thing about threating to kill him and then leaving him alive is supposed to lead us to believe that she has fallen in love with him. That whole thing just didn't work for me. She's used and played him for 5 1/2 eps and then all of a suden, she's in love with him? I just don't find that credible or believable. "What is the truth?" RE: Episode 6 Discussion
I can't remember if I posed it here or elsewhere but I suggested it could be a way back into MI5 if she delivers herself as a double agent. Oh! (gasps in horror)
My point is if she killed Lucas there's no turning back and the team would be baying for her blood. This way she has a chance of escaping and them focusing on other leads. Plus, I do think she really does like him. Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

RE: Episode 6 Discussion
Noooooo! That accent could put me off the show if she became an MI5 agent. Seriously though (removing tongue that was firmly planted in cheek), I don't think she's gonna' survive long enough to make it to S9.

RE: Episode 6 Discussion
Oh I didn't mean like that! I meant more like their way into Nightingale....and then she dies. Maybe not in Season 8 but in the first ten minutes a (hopefully) 9.1.
There'll be a pay-off for why Lucas didn't kill her. Her betrayal is too serious to keep her around in Section D. Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

Ah, ok, now I understand. As long as it ends with her dying!
