I searched for a similar topic but i could not find one, please forgive me if this has already been covered.

Being from the land down under i must wait to see the series most of you folk seem to already have enjoyed. I was wondering if anyone has any information as to when series 8 will be released on DVD in Australia. Series 7 was released on DVD here before the show aired on the ABC and i am hoping for a repeat of this situation so i can see the series as soon as possible.

The ABC hasn't bought season 8 yet, and a DVD release is unlikely until they have done so.

I ordered all my DVD from Amazon UK, won't buy them in Australia I want all the extras

Firstly, thanks for the update.

Secondly, The ABC would be mad not to buy this series, as it is very popular here and those that have given the show a chance are extremely loyal. I would think if there is any issue with the popularity of this show it is that it is not advertised effectively on the ABC and remains unknown among some of the younger set. I found it by accident one night and was hooked even though i came in 15 minutes into the episode.

Thirdly, i do not have a multi region DVD player so i am stuck until it gets released down under.

The ABC will buy it. When they get back from Christmas holidays. You know how the country basically shuts down between December 23rd and January 28th.

Probably about the time the BBC decide to announce the 9th series. Yes, it's frustrating have to wait so long to see it in Oz.

As of today (Wed 13th Jan EST) the ABC has not yet purchased season 8 (an announcement was made on the ABC forum earlier today). Until they do so we are unlikely to hear about DVD release dates.

No i have not heard anything either. it's a wee bit frustrating.

I hope the ABC confirm soon as i could use something worth watching.

Just an update for Australian fans: as of today (Wednesday 31st March) the ABC still hasn't purchased Season 8 but they expect to do so within the next two months. I've been given a direct address to check on purchases, but I'm not sure how accurate that might be.
