RE: Storylines for series 9
Harry is responsible? Even though Connie admitted to being responsible?

RE: Storylines for series 9
I think Connie was lying to try a make things better between Lucas and Harry, a parting gift to Harry if you like, but I really don't have a good reason to believe that !! There clearly is unfinished business between Harry and Lucas.

Ooo that's interesting, however I doubt Connie had that kind of compassion in her. I agree there is definitely some unfinished business between Lucas and Harry, but I don't know what kind of business it is and how I would want it to play out.

RE: Storylines for series 9
not sure about why she lied (surely she's not trying to do Harry a favour.. redemption? nah... part of yet another cunning plan? crafty old cow - wouldn't put it past her..) but I'm convinced she did.

RE: Storylines for series 9
Poor Ruth everybody wants to believe she's a traitror!! haha (I'm just kidding) I don't think Ruth is capable of doing something like that, honestly. She said she was happy, I bet she was in the way she had no other alternative and she made the best of her new life and tried to be happy. I don't think she blames Harry for what happened, as well as, I don't reckon she could have that coolness to do that.
As for the famous frase "Ultimate Betrayal", I think it's something between Harry and Lucas. I do think Connie told the truth, why would she lie, otherwise? From my point of view, she didn't feel the need to help Harry to solve Lucas and Harry's issues... My guess (I will be totally wrong, I never guess right, but anyway...) somebody will mess things between Harry and Lucas, making Lucas think Harry was the one who give him in to the russians... RE: Storylines for series 9
It will have to be one hell of a surprising twist, someone whose loyalty we totally trust, but then the writers are so good at that sort of thing. What if they can't find Ros' body and assume she was blown to pieces but she is in fact out there plotting against Harry? That would be one big ultimate betrayal! And Harry has to get to the end of his tether one of these days. Those whiskey nightcaps won't be enough to get him through losing many more staff and if he thinks Ros didn't survive the blast it could just send him over the edge. Cue Ruth with consoling arms and sympathetic bedside manner.

I think that's actually a really good idea and then they can finally have the conversation we've all been waiting for. The one where they talk over what happened and no longer feel awkward around each other! LUCAS:They told me I could come home if I spied for them HARRY:What did you say? LUCAS:I said yes |

RE: Storylines for series 9
Reading through this thread, I notice no-one has mentioned one thing that will have an affect on the team - the election! Because the new series is not going to air until the end of the year the writers cannot ignore the fact that there is an election, I can't believe they are doing the new series without knowing the outcome - unless they are ignoring it, which would seem strange since they wrote the American change of administration.
So if they are going to take into account the election and a (possible) change of Government I think the first ep needs to move on to a couple of months after the previous series, after wrapping up the nightingale storyline. I also think that S9 should do a return to the core of what MI-5 is about in domestic threats, and perhaps have storylines about internal threats to the UK, instead of looking outside to the big external threats which is really MI-6's purview. Maybe they could even bring in the election by having a storyline around the election, and less bombs and shootouts in London!! I would like to see some more about the characters trying to deal with what they do, dealing with problems like alcoholism or violence in their personal life, or a string of one-night stands (maybe Lucas, and then we could see him a lot with his shirt off ) I would like to see some more politics coming into play as well, maybe a review of the set-up of the Intel organisations, this will of course create a lot of tension on the grid, and maybe between Harry, the DG and the new HS. And maybe some cooperation between MI-5 and MI-6. And there is of course the whole fake passports that could be used to create the said cooperation between MI-5 & MI-6. Just a few ideas. |

RE: Storylines for series 9
Great ideas, Mools. More internal "threats" would be a welcome change, and would fit in with the "ultimate betrayal" theme, especially if the betrayal affects the team as a whole.
And I second the idea of "more Lucas with his shirt off..." |
